    Here are some suggestion.

Check all of the sensor flag are free and not sticky either the attached to the top cover and also the 2 size sensor on the tray itself.

Replacing the whole feeder seems like overkill. The Dadf is a very easy item to swap out (just a few mounting screws) but I think your tech needs to do some basic diagnosis first. Have your tech go into service mode and look under display tab to see which sensor is in the jam history and then disassemble the af to see if something is blocking the sensor or if the flag is stuck. Clean the sensor. If nothing found....replace that sensor. Much cheaper than replacing whole DADF.

let your technician check the jam Code , and dessamble the Feeder covers and blow it by the blower looks some of sensors is dusty .

Are You Sure that you have a technician its not easy to change the ADF let him fix well, not everything to change he must think and analyze to solve problems .

Mostly the separation pad easily flat and sometimes melted become sticky. Check for the jam code at service mode and refer to service manual where it jam then u need to clean up around those jam area. When it jam without paper mostly sensors failure or it covered by dust, you need to blow it or sometimes the small guide broken until you really need to take a close look
