    Canon 3220 w/ Fiery C1 v2.0 ISSUES

I have ready this forum up and down and still having issues.

We have a older 3200 that is having serious issues so a friend gave us his 3220 that has the Fiery C1 v2.0 on it. It worked fine when we picked it up and brought it over to our office. We checked all settings and IMG-CONT is set to 3. Plugged everything back in and restarted. Fiery just won't boot up. Never get the printer tab as it says Wait...check power cable on the LCD. The indicator lights on the Fiery cycle upon start up from starting out with all 4 lit up then 3 and 0 then it stays at 2 and 1 lit up. Reboot and checked all cables several times. The copier worked fine when we transported over and it was very secure and never moved during the short trip. The only thing that is different is the network settings, which we can't get into since the Fiery won't boot up.

    Thoughts and thanks!

J think your ethernet cables are not connected right.
is your crossover cable going between the copier nic and the Fiery port with a printer icon.

If your cables are correct, then you need to reload system software.

on this "short" trip was it in a box tuck with air ride? If not the HDD which is potentially 8 years could have been bounced causing it to crash. It doesn't take much to damage electonic equipment when it is old.

Thanks all...checked the cables again and they are all correct. Crossover and Ethernet both in the correct places. I attahed a couple photos, 1 of the C1 and 1 of the error message. The diag indicator that is lit is 2 & 1 (angle of the photo looks different but it is 2 & 1).

The truck was a box truck with air ride and the trip was 15 minutes. The copier was very secure and didn't move an inch but who really knows with electonic equipment.

Is there anything I can do it confirm that it could be the hard drive or another issue?

are your switches in download mode???? Sure does look that way from the picture. If so this would block the imagepass from talking with the copier.

charm5496 - both switches are to the far left (if looking at the picture) which I believe is the normal position. We switched both down (to the far right if looking at the photo), which is serivce mode I believe. When we do that, we get no error diag lights on. Just the green light but get the same error on the LCD when hitting the printer tab. We moved the switches back to the far left in normal position, restarted both, 2 & 1 diag lights stay on and get the same error on the LCD. Ughhh.

BIOS ISSUE / did u open the box to check if the chip is sitting correct ?

                  1. Locate the BIOS chip on the motherboard (socket U4).
                  2. Using a PROM extractor, remove the BIOS chip from its socket on the motherboard.

                  3. Re-Seat it

Make sure to align the pins on the chip with the holes in the socket.
If you notice any bent pins, straighten them gently with a pair of needle nose pliers.

Thanks teckat, did remove the BIOS chip and it looked fine. Re-seated it. Restarted all and same error - 2 & 1 still lit and getting same error message on LCD when hitting the printer tab. Frustrating.

before this> I would check if the Fiery C1 I/F PCB is sitting correct in it's slot inside printer
be careful of the fan wire when removing cage
                      back cover Fan Wire.jpg

                      then try this---exactly in order
                      1.set IMG-CONT back to "0"> hit OK !
2.follow the shutdown procedure on control panel and power off printer

imagePASS-C1 v2.0 can be turned ON/OFF using the copiers main power switch. This feature is made possible by the PCC PCB in the imagePASS-C1 v2.0. This feature requires that the power switch of the imagePASS-C1 v2.0 remain in the ON position.

                      on password prompt > enter> Fiery.1
                      hopefully this will work

Ok, first off, thanks everyone for the suggestions. Tried it all and still get the error (photo attachment).

Just about time to give up...unless of course there is someone in the Chicago (Glenview) area who knows how to make it work. I can make it worth someone's while...especially if they are a golfer...as in PGA.

                        Thanks all!!!!

Thanks vigour....thought about trying that however I don't have any disks as the printer was given to us from a printer friend who no longer needed it.
