Technical opinion on a Canon ImagePress C-1Plus

I am only getting a lot of garbage information about the ImagePress C-1Plus that is really worthless from a technical standpoint.

Are there any technicians that participate in this forum who are willing to give me their expert technical opinion on this machine. I am looking for techs that have actual hands-on experience with this model. I am not looking for brand bashing comments.

My company is considering acquiring some accounts that currently use this machine in a 10K to 20K monthly environment.

Thank you in advance for your input.

Have not worked on the plus version, but can tell you this about the C1. When serviced regularly and properly, they make a great copy. My opinion is Canon made the box very compressed, with a small footprint, which makes it more difficult to service. The developers are too small, as they deplete the starter when producing lots of copies with heavy coverage. The copy quality being so good, means they are probably in very demanding environments demanding consistent high quality....which can be a headache. They will require very specific and regular service. The fuser is complex, and again is a pain due to the limited space Canon provided. Hopefully they have the Q1 rip, and the T1. Again...regular service is the key!

    ...just my 2 cents

Can you please expand on your "regularly and properly" comment. Once every 10K prints? Weekly? Monthly? The cycle is 50K if I am not mistaken, does it need attention more often?

Thanks for your answers they were exactly the thoughts I was looking to get.

In my opinion, the biggest issue with the C1 is the developers. E020 battles which are usually patch sensor / shutter issues. (I just throw the whole shutter in the garbage.) Corona grids are really important. The ITB is good for 70K. It develops pits in the belt which will show in the copies. The Fuser belt is prone to drifting if installed with incorrectly (Fuser oil needs to applied to the pad when installing) Too much or too little creates issues. Another thing is you need to show the customer how to calibrate both the copier and the RIP. A good key operator is really important.

also, do a general search on this site for the C1. Many issues have been discussed and resolved, which i have found to be VERY helpful.
