    what is the difference

    hello friends

today i want to ask our techs for The difference between digital machines and normaly machine! what is the difference in the system!

Digital like ( ir1600. ) and normal like (canon 1550)

Shortest answer I can come up with...

Old "analog" machines = mirror to bounce image to drum (usually needs a "negative" toner/developer mix)

new laser machines = laser only writes the black image on drum(needs a "positive" toner/developer mix)

Not entirely correct but simplest way to explain.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

Maybe I'll refer these questions to my wife. She's picked up more from my 2 decades of rambling than a lot of the techs I've worked with. Who'd have thought she was actually listening? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
            1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
            2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
            3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
            4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
            5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

                  Re: what is the difference

In electronics, we are concerned with the concept of SIGNALS and transmission of data. Therefore electronics deals principally with the communication of information and data handling.
When we vary a voltage or current to represent an alternating quantity e.g. sound or picture, the varying voltage is called a signal.
Electronic signals fall in two categories: ANALOGUE and DIGITAL.

                  Analogue systems:

In analogue systems (e.g. the canon NP 1550 copier), the information or data is an electrical signal that varies in DIRECT PROPORTION to the information or data (the light reflected from the document you are copying).
The analogue system takes an input signal and enlarges it. This input signal is used to control the flow of energy from a more powerful source. This is the function of the DC controller in your copier, which controls the supply of energy from the switched mode power supply unit.
Since in practice, it is difficult to maintain DIRECT PROPORTIONALITY, the consequent difference gives rise to DISTORTION of the information or data.

Hence the SHIFT or MIGRATION to DIGITAL SYSTEMS.
                  Digital systems:no ambiguity.
The length of the signal can be varied as in Morse code, but the common practice is to use binary digits (BITS) of equal duration. As a consequence, any signal distortion can be REMOVED since we anticipate equal digits which are either ON or OFF.
                  ADVANTAGES OF THE DIGITAL SYSTEM.
Digital information can be easily transmitted, stored and processed with out degradation.
Data can be shaped after transmission.
Noise and interference has much less effect.
                  CONCLUSION:

The human senses (sight, smell, touch etc) are naturally wired to respond ONLY to ANALOGUE signals. The digital circuit is merely used to process and transmit data/signals which are then converted back into the respective ANALOGUE signals e.g. Texts, graphics, pictures (or the image of the copy) which your eye can then see.
This ANALOGUE to DIGITAL CONVERSION PROCESS and vice versa is accomplished by the ADC/DAC integrated circuit (IC) found in your READER controller PCB/IMAGE processor PCB.

Generally then, the introduction (inclusion) of the READER controller PCB, IMAGE processor (MAIN controller) PCB, HDD etc. into the FORMERLY Analogue copier changed the features of your copier from ANALOGUE to DIGITAL machines.

ANALOG= You better Learn or Know how to use a Meter and read a Manual Schematic to trace > pinpoint an issue on a board, used to replace transistors>capacitors> etc. on board>in the field. Techs could be fired if u lost Manuals with Schematics.

DIGITAL= Nowadays u Swap & Check to save time (is money). Canon Schematics today are a waste of paper. No with Little or No Direction/No Wire Color/, it takes u longer to diagnose some issues.
