Here is what the PCB with the hard drive installed looks like. You'll see that the drive sits perfectly in what appears to be a base for it. Does the manual show a picture of the ribbon cable ??

The drive is setup for "device 0 Master".. No jumpers installed.

Test the Hitachi HDD with a computer first, format it and if succeeded delete the partition before installing in the machine.
