Hi, All these years i just go through on downloading firmware to copier machines using bi-directional. Yesterday it appear E602 and confirm hardisk failure. It was my first time to try on ir8070 which i need to use networking to download system firmware. Im not sure about the way that i did but i got this on my laptop. E221.jpg Im using straight cable to connect it from computer to router to ir8070. But im not sure does the hardisk that i use is matching. How can i check the supported hardisk list?

Use network connection instead of bi-directional connection.
Connect only laptop with the copier with a crossover cable and in SST go to System Management-Assist Mode Setting and enter an IP like this :
172.16.1.100(you must put this IP in copier also,but restart copier after changing IP)).
Put to the computer this IP 172.16.1.101.
After SST procedure,like registering firmware etc..and setting copier to DOWNLOAD MODE,click CONNECT in SST.
Wait still copier finishes its job

Maybe you should try to use UTP cross type, connect PC directly to machine and use IP 172.16.0.100 as IP address of machineLearning never ends..

I can ping the ir8070 machine ip address of 172.16.1.100 and also i can ping myself, laptop ip address 172.16.1.160 using cross over cable directly from laptop to copier machine. But it just cannot go through when i start the batch download after selected the "network" and the machine ip address "172.16.1.100" at the top of SST. It still came out the E221 SST code.
I cannot change the machine ip address since i replaced the another empty hardisk. The previous hardisk was totally cannot detect by computer when i plug into it so i replaced another empty hardisk hitachi 20gb.
Im not sure where it went wrong since i can ping both ip address. The machine is Ir8070 with C bootromComment

You cannot change the copier's IP address in download mode, it is fixed in BOOTROM : 172.16.1.100 and does not depend on Hard Disk.
Connect your laptop using crossover UTP cable to machine, change your laptop IP Address to 172.16.1.160 and Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Turn on the machine while holding 1 and 7 or 2 and 8 till machine come in download mode
Start SST and select ir8070 and click Connect.

No it is not Hard Disk compatibility, it is connection time out error, check your laptop LAN speed ,it must be 10mbps or 100mbps, the iR8070 does not support 1000mbps.
Replace your UTP cable ,maybe it is bad, when you are connected and you cannot format the Hard Drive then it is the hard drive type compatibility.Comment

ir8070 firmware pic.jpg I think my ir8070 firmware is not complete i cannot find *format.ift in it. Inside ALL_HDF there is only 1 folder show iR8070-ALL_HDF-USen1601-DEFIJ.ift
my laptop only support 10/100mbps and using new cross over cable.Comment

You mention a "C" boot Rom, is there a controller attached, say an m3? If so, use the cross cable from the controller. Had same issue on 105+ with m3Some people may say I have a short temper, but I prefer to call it

HD Format resides in a folder iRXXXX ,it is made for many machines including iR8070 and is encrypted.
