    paper deck not registering paper

    hi peeps,

just installed 2 x iRC4580's with paper decks. Paper decks mechanics are working fine. tested all sensors on the decks everything seems to be working fine. tried a working paper deck off a CLC 5151 and had the same problem.

Basically u put paper in the tray rises, hits the paper detection sensor and stops like it should. the problem is that when u try and select paper from copy screen, it doesnt register there's paper in either of the decks.

So the problem lies with the copiers. The 2 Cassette feeding units work perfectly well aswell.

It seems to me that the signals coming into the board of the 2 cassette unit seems to be playing up. i have the board on order. i just wanted to put this out there to see if any1 had come across the same issue before? and if so what the fix was.

    regards

    SWAG

After checking the connectors, check the drawer settings.

Not that I have ever done it make sure the drawer settings are correct. Had a system that some how lost the drawer settings for one tray and would not register any paper. Got set to some odd number. Changed it back (to 19 I think) and started working again.

            paper deck issue

i do know that if you connect the finisher to box while box is plugged into wall it takes out the fuse pcb, then does not see finisher properly.
did you shut down box and unplug from wall before you plugged in paper deck? just a thought

              hi there,

thanks for the replies ill start by saying yes it is a Y1 paper deck the 2 cass feeding unit is a Z2 unit.

Yes i did discon the power shut down etc.

the wierd thing is when we did the 5151 on the same floor there was no setup involved from a soft switching point of view.

in the opt/body menu there is an option to change paper size but not to get the paper deck rocognised.

i mean it does recognise the deck as when u go into the paper select menu on the copy page the deck is there, it recognises that it is A4 size but not the paper thats in their....doh

anyway keep the replies coming ill let u know if anything changes my end

                paper deck

it knows a-4 paper, there is a setting in service mode, not sure good enough to send you to it, but i know it is there. paperdeck is set for european paper. that setting needs to be changed. 3200 wil do same thing after dc clear until door specs are put back in.
                hope that helps a little

yourownfree, i live in UKL therefore i need it to be A4, i ran trhu those option settings to change paper to see if it would recognise the A4 but still no joy.

if i select the paper select cassette 5 option it says the paper is plain type.

the problem lies that is doesnt see theres any paper in there! thats wh yi think its a board signal issue. everything seems to be doing what it should be doing, its just not passing on the signal to say yes i have paper in here.... IE it just flashes saying load paper!

                    any ideas?

                      paper deck

i did have one 3200 a few years back that did not recon finisher i think. when i pulled female connector off back of box, the connector that plugs into the back of it was loose, have u looked at that?

also, have you removed right side cover on paper deck and seen paper rise? maybe bad lift motor that took out driver board? or bound up cable that want lift.
if u reach in to hit sensor with screw stick, does paper stop rising? i think there are 2 sensors there, one to tell paper to stop rising and other one to tell if out of paper.
we all here wish you luck, atleast there are forums like this
