Can you ping the copier with the laptop? Did you set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0?
Also, if memory serves me correctly, there are a lot of problems with earlier models like the 3300 Family when connecting to the Service Support Tool using the Ethernet Port. It was suggested to me to always use the Parrallel Port on theses models when connecting to the Service Support Tool.
Also, with the parrallel port there is no need to set IP on the laptop.
Hope this helps.Comment

CopierGuy is right about the network interface. If your laptop has a parallel port use that, but your laptop's bios settings for that port MUST be set to support ECP printing or it won't work. If you don't have a parallel port you need the canon nethawk usb to parallel cable. It's the only one I've found that works.Like the United States Postal Service It's a miracle it works!Comment

i wounder if it is the driver for the canon support program because every way is coming up with timeout errors or fail to open port on bio-centro. I am using a old version of the program ver 3.22e. Does anyone have a newer version of this with the ir3300 firmware.Comment

Connection Timeout
I'm fed enough with itTried many many times to format HDD, but no success at all. I'm using Parallel Cable, Don't have a "NetHawk" one... and don't know where to get it. I tried both old SST with old firmware and new SST with new firmware. No luck. Do you think that USB-to-Parallel cable will work?

"You need to use a IEEE1284 aka bi-directional parallel cable not just any parallel cable."
bnmand has it right,, the advantage of the nethawk cable over the parallel cable is speed, it is a little faster. But you have to get that cable set up properly before you can use it. The 3.22 software will work fine on the iR3300 series. The IEEE1284 cable is easily found anywhere pc/printer hardware is sold. Make sure parallel port is set to ECP mode in bios.
Connect pc to copier, start the software, choose the format version, at first screen where it verifies your setup, now turn on copier holding down the 2+8 till it shows the copier in download mode. Follow onscreen prompts to successfully format hard drive. Then you can use the ALLHDF selection to load the system software. Be sure to know if you are working on a C or N model of copier and use appropriate ALLHDF selection.
good luck!"Once a King, always a King, but once a Knight is enough!"
