Canon iR3570 stalls when looking for Department ID code

I am at my whits end with this one. This problem seems local to the PC I am using or possibly the account that is being used. When trying to print to the printer it asks for Department ID and password. When this is entered it seems to freeze up for a little while and then returns "Could not get device information". If I take off "Job Accounting" then I can print without a problem so there is no problem with the link to the printer - it just doesn't seem to want to authenticate. This is only happening with a few users, most users print to the printer ok using their codes.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!!

    hi,
I have the same situation with a Canon iR C3100.
I will consistently get a Result code "NG" and End Code "#853" in the printer's log file.
The other thing I will add is that this printer works fine with UFR driver on a 32 bit server, but the problems are occurring on a 64bit server that has 32bit drivers also installed, and 32bit clients.

    thanks

You need to install the correct driver when installing print drivers on a 64bit operating system. Install the UFR2 v2.50 64bit driver.

The "NG" error 853 refers to,
      Using the wrong printer driver.
The machine does not have the proper printer kit installed (e.g.UFR, PCL, PS kit(s)).
The print job did not print because due to lack of resources on the printer (e.g. memory, HD space, etc).
Print spooler on the machine is full.
The number of secure print jobs have exceeded the
maximum limit that can be reserved at this time.

        hi,
        thanks for replying.
I would love to use the UFR driver for this unit, but I cannot find one for the 3100 off the Canadian website, which is why I had to use the PCL 5c 64 and 32 bit drivers.

To get device info install network scangear tool on pc. It will show in your start menu if there. There is color and BW sgangear so beware. You can download from CUSA. Also enable bidirectional communication at machine control panel.
