[Error Code] iR c5045 - Error message PDL / PCL / DL Memory full

I have a c5045 that is giving me an odd error. I will get a phone call every few days that the printer has an error / stuck jobs. When i view the copier remotely via the web browser it lists no error. When i get to the machine it has a message PDL / PCL / DL Memory full about a print job. I can bring up the job details, and hit skip error and it will print. In the job details where it would normally tell me what computer / person sent the print job it is blank and there are a ton of people that print to it so it is making it hard to figure out where it is coming from.

I believe this may be some sort of software or driver error on the computer sending the print job. Any ideas?

The Message: "PDL PL Memory Full Error" is Displayed on the Control Panel

Problem : The message: "PDL PL Memory Full Error" is occurring on the display. Solution : In this case, clearing partition '4' on the hard drive in Service Mode and power cycling the machine resolved the message. To clear partition '4' of the hard drive in service mode level 1 select: Settings / Registration > 2 then 8 > Settings / Registration. Choose Copier > Function > System. Change CHK TYPE to '4' and then highlight HD CLEAR and press 'ok'

Will this erase any stored documents, mail box data etc?

Run the CHK-TYPE first / HD-CHECK "4"
power off/on

see what happens / if message returns u may need to

do a HD-Clear "4" Partition


are u trained on this Model ???

I am an operator that has about 20 canon's in an office building. I am fairly knowlegable with service mode but not formally trained. When it is network or driver issues we deal with it in house, which i thought this was at first. If i need to page our tech i will do so.

CHK-TYPE 4
HD-CHECK gives result OK!
HD-CLEAR give result NG!

The error is intermittant and a job randomly gets stuck. The stuck job's error can be skipped, but it records nothing in the error logs.

I am not sure yet. In the job log when the machine gets this error it has zero info about who sent the job. Normally you can look at the job details and see what workstation it came from but it just shows blank. The admin near the copier was going to try and figure out where they are coming from, there are a lot of people that use it.

No one is fessing up to sending the job, the copiers does not get any info about who sent the job, the admin of the area was trying help figure out where it was coming from but no luck yet. There is a large group of people that could be printing to it.I am going to call my Oce tech tomorrow, but it is such an odd error i do not sure if they can help.

go and re-load or update the IRADC5045 Firmware

go in Service Mode to run update

Data capture - All you need is a hub and wireshark!
