canon IR 5570 /wrinkling 14 inch follow up

Hi,.
Finally got okay to change parts in fuser +duplex unit(inverter and delivery rollers and one way gears and bearings.I ran into a snag as I tried to change parts. Even though I ordered service manual I wasnt quite sure how to slide fuser/transport / transfer unit out of machine so I can work on back uf unit. I too two screws off from railing(one on each side and I pushed in both spring locking levers(one on each side of unit.But unit still only slides out a few more inches,still not allowing me to take completely out of machine. Can you tell me how to take out completely so I can get to back of unit?

hmm... it sounds like you have already removed the duplex bed front cover if the bed is sliding into the service position, but if you haven't, you gotta remove it. Also, word of advice, remove the Fixing Assy since it is easy to pull and will help you not pull your back out. I like to drop the Fixing Bed onto a paper case box so that it is easy to spin around. Don't put it flat on the floor. Hard to get back up. Otherwise, you might have issue with rails. Have heard horror stories about techs that have installed screws into rails wrong and they get hung. Have you ever replaced the UFR on 5570 before ? Its a good for a super tech . Also remeber to lube your LFR ends with high temp grease before you put the bearings back on or in 200k youll be back cleaning up rust and wrinkled copies .

Thanks for reply.Ill grease as I take apart.Still not sure how to remove whole fuser /transport unit off tracks. Took cover off lower unit ,removed 1 screw on each side of track and pushed tabs in .Do I need to do anything else to remove unit to work on back?

HI again,
IM not really trying to take fuser apart at this point,Im trying to change inverter roller,and both inner and outer delivery rollers.I changed the one that I didnt need to pull unit completely out of machine,but I need to get to back of unit to change other two.

DOES THE FUSER /TRANSPORT ROLLER UNIT slide out as assembly off the railings so I can work on back. I agree I dont know machine ,but Id have to think entire unit comes out of machine to be able to change parts in back of unit. Im sure you dont need to take fuser apart every time a gear or anything on back of unit needs to be replaced.

Can you please tell me how to take out so I can change rollers (INVERTER AND DELIVERY)I have at this moment.

Look for 2 plastic stops on the rails, remove them and the unit come out like a cash drawer.

the fuser/ transport assy lifts straight up off of the rails after you release the clips on the side rails and remove the two screws with large flat heads. removing the upper fuser roller assy makes whole unit lighter and easier to handle

Holy crap! Hey guys lighten up! As techs aren't we all kind of in the same boat here? That fuser is easy to work on. The most important thing to do if you are replacing the rollers is to position the tabs for the shutter so the home position is correct when you put it back together. As far as wrinkling goes, replacing the rollers after the fuser is a good idea, but you should definately replace the fuser rollers and bearings if they are even close to their yield. Good luck and relax! It is just copy repair, not a boxing match.
