    C4080 CNT-MCON

Accidentally did a CNT-MCON clear. Now these are the copies we are getting. One is b/w which is just slightly off centered, the other is a color and the gradation adjustment test sheet that prints out. Have done the RCon and DCon clear and re-entered the values from a working C4080, but no change. Also went under the Service Mode Level 2 and did the Reg clear. Any ideas??

why would enter settings from another printer
    do u hav a manual ???
    this PDF--might help-------------------Label Adjustments.pdf

U need a P Print with the Factory settings to work from/ did u look behind the front cover of the printer unit ??

At time of shipment from the factory, all machines are adjusted individually, and adjustment values are recorded in their respective service labels.
when you have initialized the RAM (DCON/RCON), the adjustment values (for ADJUST and OPTION)
will return to their default settings.

another point / this MCON had/ or has nothing to do with DCON & RCON settings

CNT-MCON Clears service counters maintained by main controller PCB (main).

The counter values are cleared after the main power switch is turned OFF/ON.
    Operation method
    1) Select this item, then press the OK key.
    2) Turn the main power OFF/ON.

your original RCON label settings are behind the cover((label attached behind reader unit front cover)

      Re: C4080 CNT-MCON

As teckat said, i've done this before myself. Enter the settings from the P-Print inside the front cover, power the machine off/on they do a full auto gradation. It won't work using setting from another machine everyone is different!

If this is missing you have to set the machine up from scratch.

        Re: C4080 CNT-MCON

Ok, I entered the information from the sheet inside the door but the copies are the same, actually the b/w is shrunken a bit more than before and the color is still really off. It won't do a gradation adj because the color bars on the test print are not lined up so it says to place original correctly.

I bought this machine in a package, it worked at the warehouse. When it arrived here, we went in to clear the password and address book but accidentally hit CNT-MCON, not sure if this is what caused the problem or if something happened in transport.

        Any other ideas?

make sure your PATCH READ SENSOR IS CLEAN & IN PLACE-----click all attached pics to view--
          SALT SENSOR.JPG

like i said CNT-MCON has nothing to do with your issue/ u cleared RCON & DCON that caused some of the issues-
          did u do the

make sure that factory sheet has your printer serial # on it/ also -that door sheet does not have RCON settings on it-- RCON settings are behind Reader front cover

do this adjustment below/Lasers do not have to be removed

          in SERVICE MODE LEVEL 2

          SERVICE MODE LEVEL 1
          press Additional Functions Key (once)
press #2 & 8 key at the same time (release both)
then press Additional Functions Key again (release it)
          for LEVEL 2
press Additional Functions Key (once again) then press #2

          COPIER>FUNCTION>LASER

          LD-ADJ-Y/M/C
Making the tilt correction motor return to the initial position automatically.

          Operating Instructions
          1) Select this mode.
          2) Press the OK key.
          - The operation starts. It automatically stops when it is completed.

          Reference:
The tilt correction motor may get locked when the tilt amount in the horizontal scanning direction exceeds the expected range, and consequently color displacement cannot be corrected even though automatic registration is conducted.
When this symptom occurs, use this mode to make the tilt correction motor return to the center position
          automatically.
(If you try to do this operation manually by opening the scanner unit, you may touch the lens. For this reason, be sure to do it by the automatic operation.)
This Service Mode is used to correct the tilt of Y, M, and C against BK, which is used as a reference, when the tilt is large (when the horizontal lines are higher at the right).

Manual Adjustment of LASERS---see attached CORRECTION PDF /
use service mode procedure above first---

            Re: C4080 CNT-MCON

Ok, I'm really embarrassed to say this, but I thought the first thing we tried was to swap out transfer belts to see if that was the problem but evidentally we didn't. So now we know the problem follows the transfer belt unit. My question now is, the belt looks good, is there something else in the unit itself that could be bad and causing this problem.

                Re: C4080 CNT-MCON

Sorry, yes I did. I entered all the values from the sheets (inside front door, inside reader unit cover and verified the values on the laser unit labels). Also cleaned salt sensor and reg sensor and verified patch reader was installed correctly. I went into Service Mode 2 and did the automatic tilt adjustment. The only thing I did not do was manually try to adj lasers. I had another tech come in to look at it this morning and he swapped the transfer belt unit with another working 4080 (which I thought we had done already)and the problem went away. But of course the problem is on the other copier now, so I'm certain it is a bad itb unit and was just wondering if there is something other than the belt that could be faulty. If there was something on the previous post that I missed, I apologize.

the belt can be removed & cleaned/or replaced / the lg rubber roller inside ITB can be cleaned/
if belt is old>probably is streached out-

post some PG6 TEST PRINTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                      ITB BELT CLEAN.JPG

and not have to do Laser procedures below---

Detecting/Correcting Color Displacement in Sub Scanning Direction
The Y pattern is used as the reference. The machine identifies the degree of color displacement in sub scanning direction with reference to the timing at which other color patterns are checked after a check on the Y pattern.
If the timing is not correct, the machine corrects the laser write start timing in sub scanning direction.

Looks like Laser Cams are incorrectly positioned

Laser cams seem at fault //perform the following steps:/do a Manual Adj.
1.Remove the 4 laser units from the machine.
2.Remove the laser cover to expose the lens.
3.Adjust the cammed gear until it is at its center position.
When attaching the laser unit, tighten the screws in diagonal sequence for proper balance.
4.Re-assemble the laser unit and re-install in the machine.
5.Turn on the power /run a full Auto-Gradation> then once again try PG Type 6 and PG Type 10.

                      Also check these connections--------------------------
Loose wiring on the DC Controller/System Controller or loose interconnections (two ribbon cables) between the DC Controller and the System Controller

1.Unplug the machine from the Wall Socket
2.Remove the rear panel to access the DC Controller and the System Controller.
3.Disconnect all connectors form the DC Controller, the System Controller and the two
interconnection ribbon cables between the DC Controller and the System Controller.

4.Then Reconnect all connectors removed .
5.Plug machine back into the Wall Socket.
6.Turn on the power and once again try PG Type 6 and PG Type 10.
