Cassette Paper sizes are determined by the combinations of the Size Detection Assy switches pushed by the paper size lever./ when tray is pushed in> if tray (lock in place_ jumps out during pic-up miss-read of size takes place> with no jam code > just message

Intermittently the machine will display " change paper size message ".
From bypass machine runs with no issues.
Was a new cassette tried .

Could be a defective Size Detection Assy. { FM2-3319-000 }

make sure the Registration Clutch, is in place

Check for a misaligned Cassette Position Block (lock in place)

• I tried to add extra wrap to the spring of the registration sensor but when paper touch the flag, the spring drop from its position.
• I checked the cassette and locked in its place very well.
• Now the message appears even when copying from bypass tray, also from two cassettes.
• I changed the registration clutch, but the problem not solved,
• I checked the size detection assy, all switches pushed correctly.

Hi to all,

iR2020is a two cassettes machine. The issue is common to both cassettes, then, there is a very small probability that the issue is due to a pick up problem. I advise to clean or change the vertical feeding roller.

Do you find that the display displays the correct paper size and when making an A3 copy it jams.
If so it is definatly the reg sensor flag.
If it is displaying the correct size paper on the display, surely that rules out size identification.
Every time ive had this problem (about 10 times) the bypass works fine and when copying from either cassette
it shows change paper size.

How many copies has the machine done?

Extend the lenght of the sensor....WORN TIP....... not the spring.

The vertical feed rollers have been cleaned so this should iradicate the symptoms of the gear problem.
The machine has done 200k
Change the flag or extend slightly and I bet that there would be a post saying all working correctly.

Had this problem loads of times.

clean rollers do not mean gears were changed ?

Im not saying dont change the gears, yes change these to get rid of the problem of jamming when the vertical feed rollers get dirty.
With clean rollers the original gears should work fine unless the rollers them selves are so worn that its that that is causing the problem. I doubt it.
The way I tell the difference between the two problems, apart from looking and seeing the tip of the actuator rounded off, is to clean the rollers and if it still is a problem then I find the actuator is the problem.

I have a problem in IR 2020, message appears change paper size, while copying from two cassettes and A4 or A4R.
when copying from bypass tray, it works normally any quantity without any problem,
I replace the registration clutch, paper pick up, feed and seperation roller but the problem still showing message change paper size,

you will just a clean paper pick up roller ( FB4-9817 I think is the part number ) & replace it . If you will not sucssed you have to replace whole paper pick up assembly .
