    [Misc] Fax related issue

    Dear Team,

I have installed Ir 2520 machine at one location.Machine is able to send the fax manually(means by pressing on hook key) but it is not transmitting automatically.Immediately it shows redialing message after scanning documents without dialing the number. One more thing i observed that if i disconnects fax line then machine dials number in auto dialing mode. If it is line problem then same line is connected to Panasonic machine then it works fine in auto mode.

I have upgraded the system software with latest one & also checked the fax board on another machine, there it worked fine.

Most likely you are experiencing a '' Communications Settings'' problem. You need to '' Customize the machine's Settings''.
    - The AUTO REDIAL Function enables the machine to redial the recipient fax number if the recipient cannot be reached due to a busy line or sending error!
    - This AUTO REDIAL can be turned ''on'' or ''off''. If you set the AUTO REDIAL to ''on'', you can set how many times the machine redials, the redial interval, & whether the document should be resent in the event of an error.
    - The default Settings are:
    - Auto Redial ''on''.
    - Redial Times: ''2 Times''
    - Redial Interval: ''2 mins.''
    - TX Error Redial: ''All pages''.
    - To activate these settings, you must access the ''Additional Functions'' MODE as follows:
1- Press the ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS key >[Common Settings]>[TX Settings]. Under FAX settings:
    2- Press [AUTO Redial]
    3- Select [on] or [off];
NB: If you select [on]: Press OPTION.
    - Press [Redial Times]
    - Press [-] or [+] to select the number of the Redial Times, > Press [OK]. You can also use the numeric keys.
    - Press [Redial Interval]
    - Press [-] or [+] to select the Redial interval then > Press [OK].
    - Press [TX Error Redial]
    - Select [Error & 1st page], [All pages] or [off] > Press [OK],
    - [ Error & 1st page]: Auto Redial takes place if sending error occurs. The first page of the document, the error page, & all subsequent pages are resent.
    - [All pages]: Auto Redial take place if sending error occurs. All pages of the documents are sent.
    - [OFF]: Redialing does not take place if a sending error occurs. If you select [OFF], > press [OK].
4- Press RESET to return to the Top screen.

    GOOD LUCK!

      Hi,
      Thanks for your reply.
But all the setting you have mentioned are kept as default.

As i mentioned earlier also, the machine in auto dialing mode scans original & immediately gives message "redialing again" without dialing the number. It seems the problem of fax line but the same line is working fine with panasonic machine.

What type of telephone line are you using? It is possible it could be a line problem.
To operate a fax function, you must know whether the machine is connected to a 'Touch-Tone' or 'Rotary Pulse' Telephone line. IF this SETTING is INCORRECT you will be unable to communicate with the other machines. The default for this machine is 'Tone'.
You check/ change this settings: Additional Function > Communications settings> Fax settings > Telephone line type.
IF you are not sure what type of telephone line you have, check with your local telephone company.
I had a similar problem like you have on a Samsung scx-421f.
        - You could also try using another fax cable, OR re-install the fax driver.

It doesn't help you to know that the settings on the Panasonic work on a particular phone line and the settings on the Canon don't work on the same particular phone line. Not all facsimilie have the same manufacturer, not the same settings, and not the same circuit structure.

" ... my $99 Brother works just fine, yet the $15,000 MFP won't work on this line." And what do these machines have in common? Not much.

Is it a digital phone line or VOIP?
If yes, is your Canon set up for a digital phone line or VOIP? Are the appropriate settings available on this model of Canon?
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

did u turn off the /Check Dial Tone Before Sending feature.
Turning off this feature causes no problems and will not affect the sending or receiving of faxes.

Check dial tone before sending is set to OFF.
