    [Dead] Canon IR C2880 E-0000670102

Does anyone no what the possible causes are. I know that the black toner is stuck?, that is what I'm hearing from this new account. I won't see this machine until Monday and hoped to get more info on causes before going there and I don't have the manual. I have the C5180 manual but I'm sure they are quite different. Thanks for any feed back.

Combination of new black drum with old / dirty 1st transfer roller for black often causes this problem in low humidity environment.

Check HV-STS values under display in level2 of service mode.

If value for black is 20 or lower then you have 2 options: Replace the itb unit OR clean the 1st transfer roller for black in the itb unit.

This roller can eassily be removed WITHOUT removing the it-belt. Check for the 2 small plastic covers that keep the 1st transfer roller in place just under the edge of the it-belt. Small covers are fastened with small screws.

After cleaning the 1st transfer roller for black with liquid plastic cleaner or water (DON'T USE ALCOHOL), try to drywipe it as good as possible and then place it back by sliding it under the it-belt, push it in blocks and put small plastic covers back.

After this, check for HV-STS value again, it should be FAR above 20. If not, replace the itb unit.

2880 and 5180 are two differant animals

      1. Check to see if the primary transfer roller spring is deformed or detached.

      2. Clean the point of contact of the primary transfer roller.
      3. Make the following selections in sequence [Service mode > COPIER > Display > MISC > DRM-LIFE] to check the setting value; if the value is around '100', suspect that the drum almost reaches the end of life, and replace the drum unit with a new one.
      4. If the symptom still occurs, re-fit all the connectors of the DC Controller PCB.
      5. If Step 4 does not work on the symptom, output P-Print printouts, and then replace the DC Controller PCB with a new one.

the coupling within the Drum Drive may be compressed

Remove the e-ring and correct the spring tension as in illustration #3.
