There is no way to test the counter memory PCB unless you instal a new one (which has never been installed on another machine.)

How about this? ... run 10 letter size prints or copies, then check that the counter incremented 10. Run 10 ledger sized prints or copies, then check if the counter incremented 20. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I most certainly sure if it was not functioning there would be a error code.

Exactly, it is giving me "system error e247", after going through different publications i find there are three causes; either counter memory pcb, main controller pcb or serial pcb. i questioned myself, which one is the exact cause of this error? That's why i wanted to test the counter memory pcb for confirmation. Thanks.

Re: Testing if canon counter memory pcb is functioning

The most common cause of your E247 code is when an unethical individual attempts to sell his used MFP as new. So this person would take the counter PWB from a low count machine and install it in a very high count machine, not knowing that the serial number is recorded in several locations in the machine.

There are two possible solutions to this situation.
                1) install the original high count Counter PWB.
                2) contact Canon to purchase a replacement Counter PWB.

OK, there is a third solution. This person might part out the machine and junk it. And that is the usual result.

But you're probably not one of these unethical people ... are you? =^..^=

First u don't post the correct information (E247) , U have not poster the machine model, u have not explained the WHO-WHAT-WHEN-WHERE WHY-HOW on this machine and ERROR

here is a pdf of this sheet for all techs or non-techs or wannabees looking for help

As explained in previous posts, the Counter Memory, Serial Number and Main Controller PCBs work as a set and are considered the “Soft Counter Circuit”.
The Counter Memory PCB is electronically stamped with the serial number from the Serial Number PCB. Neither the Counter Memory PCB nor the Serial Number PCB can be swapped to other equipment.
The Counter Memory PCB keeps track of the total count, which cannot be erased or changed. The service counters are retained by the Main Controller. These counters can be reset manually through service mode.
When the Counter Memory PCB must be replaced, after installing the new one, the new Counter Memory PCB learns the Total Count from the Main Controller. This is retained in SRAM on the Main Controller PCB and held active by means of an on board battery.

The imageRUNNER 1023/1023N/1023iF/2016/2020/2016i/2020i model does not have a Main Controller
PCB. The Counter Memory PCB is instead mounted to the Image Processor PCB.

It is illegal to tamper with this circuit in an attempt to falsify the counter readings of any Canon Copier.

Why you didn't say that before. We all know here why E247 occurs!

Whether you trying to find a solution here, your NOT gonna.

You would have to call Canon for a counter pcb.
