    Canon IR 2016i tpouch screen

I have used the following to try to calibrate the touch screen. But I can not get past the third + sign that is in the upper right hand of the touch screen. any suggestions?

    procedure is as follows:

    1) Enter Service Mode (Additional Functions Key, the "2" Key, the "8" Key, and the Additional Functions Key)

    2) Press the Left Arrow Icon until you reach "#Test Mode" on the Display

    3) Press "OK"

    4) Press the number "6" Key on the Number Key Pad

    5) Press the number "7" Key on the Number Key Pad (The word "Factory" should be on the display along with Icons 01, 02, and 03)

    6) Press "01" Icon (The "01" Icon should be highlighted)

    7) Press "OK" ( The words "Touch Panel XY Adjust" should appear on the display)

    8) Press "Touch Panel XY Adjust" (The "Touch Panel XY Adjust" Icon should be highlighted)

    9) Press "OK" (A small plus sign (+) will appear in the upper left corner of the display)

    10) Touch the center of the "+" sign. Note: Use the Touch Pen to prevent damage to the display surface (Another "+" sign will appear)

    11) Touch each "+" sign that appears on the display until the "Factory " screen returns

    12) Press the "Reset" Key twice

    13) Power the machine Off/On

If calibration doesn't help or if it can't be performed at all ................you may have no choice but to replace the touch panel overlay/LCD

There have been many instances on this model that performing an "all clear" will often resolve touch panel alignment issues so start with that & you could also try loading the latest firmware.

can you give me some information about the all clear and how to do this? Will this just put it back to factory settings? Thanks.

If you are not a Canon Tech......I would caution you that it might be a good idea to call one to properly diagnose the problem and do the "all clear" as this restores all settings and registration data to factory defaults and all user inputted info will be lost. Or ,at least buy the service manual if you are going to risk working on your own equipment.

I see that Teckat helped you in a previous post on how to enter service mode to calibrate the touch screen.

Teckat has also posted the IR2016 all clear procedure in this thread--- http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/ca...d-standby.html

        Hope this helps.............

Thank you for helping me. We are a company that owns the Canon. I have purchased the service manual and I will look over everything before doing anything and then decide the best route. Thank you again for helping me. I appreciate it.

The most simple solution is new firmware.
