[Misc] Canon ir2525 scanning to email

Have tried everything we can and tried with 2 different email addresses to set up a Canon IR2525 to be able to scan to email. We have used an ATT account and a Gmail account with no success. We usually get the 802 error saying it can't connect to the server. Once got the 810 error, that was only with the pop settings installed as well. I went back and erased the pop settings and it went back to the 802 error. I have double checked the port settings and the username and password, not sure what else we are missing.

This is only going to be set up to email out of so we were only entering in the smtp settings and changing the smtp port number on the settings.

    imageRUNNER
    2545i/2545
    2535i/2535
    2530/2525
    2520

    Sending*

*The Send function is available only when the Color
    Send Kit-Y1
    (optional for the imageRUNNER 2545/
    2535/2530/2525/2520
    ) is activated.

Send function enables you to send
scanned image or document data to file servers
or USB memory media or by e-mail or I-fax

-The machine sends e-mail or I-fax messages to mail servers using SMTP.
The machine can receive incoming messages from a mail server using the POP3 protocol or directly using the machine’s own SMTP receiving function.
If the latter method is used, it is not necessary for the mail server to support the POP3 protocol.
-The machine can receive I-fax, e-mail messages in text format, and TIFF-F and JPEG files attached to e-mail messages in text format.

    Network Scanning
Remote Scan function enables you to use
the machine as a conventional scanner. You
can scan a document using the machine, and
read the data in a TWAIN-compliant application
on your computer. To use this function, the
machine must be connected to an IPv4 network
and the Color Network ScanGear* must be
    installed on your computer.

      SCAN TO G MAIL

change port settings to 587 or 465

      (Additional Functions)-System Settings-
      Network Settings-TCP/IP Settings-Port Number Settings
Press the key for the protocol you want to change the port
      number.

      SMTP.JPG

The following are the Gmail SMTP server and port settings for sending emails through Gmail from any email client program:

Under Outgoing mail, set Gmail SMTP server address as smtp.gmail.com.
Configure Gmail SMTP user name as: your full Gmail address (including @gmail.com) Google Apps users may have to enter ------------------------
Configure Gmail SMTP password as: Your Gmail password.
Configure Gmail SMTP port as: 465 or 587.
Configure Gmail SMTP TLS/SSL required as: yes.

If you tried configuring your SMTP server on port 465 (with SSL) and port 587 (with TLS), but are still having trouble sending emails, try configuring the SMTP server to use port 25 (with SSL). But make sure SSL is active for SMTP in your email client. Also ensure “allow authentication” is active for the SMTP server in your email client.
Before using your Gmail Account as your SMTP server, make sure that you have enabled Gmail POP3 or Gmail IMAP through settings in your Gmail Account

Teckat gave you a good direction to follow:

Do you have your own domain?

If so who the host. example(go daddy)

In order to use third party accounts such as gmail, hotmail, yahoo you need to find what port they authenticate.

Pop settings are use only when you want to receive emails.

I tried everything that yall have gave me and still no luck on it. I tried all 3 smtp ports with no luck using the gmail address. We have heard that this machine the ir2525 is mainly for faxing and doesn't work well with SSL ports. Any truth to this and is there anything else we can try?

I don't know. If he did not have the send option he wouldn't even have an option to register a file folder or email, the send option would be grayed out.
I guess we will have to wait till he verifies.

                Hi,

It might be due to SSL not supported, even though machine is able to switch port 25 to another number. Print out the "User Data List", on the last page will have the information of machine firmware. Attached that page here.

Another thing is to ensure all network settings (DNS; Domain Name; ...etc) matches the network of your company, and once you made any changes MUST perform reboot of machine

                  Hi All,

also, set 2nd DNS server to google public DNS 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4
(many times local server is set incorrectly only updates local DNS not external due to some wacko IT security policy or broken due to outsourced IT upgrading system and not switching DNS point)

I've had a client that upgraded their local servers and switched to a cloud network/SMTP server, one copier (7095) would send emails all day long IRADV C5051 would and then wouldn't.... tried everything nothing worked, so as last ditch effort we changed the IP of the copier and WA-LA no problem since. Somehow the IP the copier was using was getting blocked through the network/firewall jumping into the cloud even though worked closely with local IT and CLOUD IT no blocks for this IP set out.

                  IP Result 1st 2nd
ex: 10.10.10.93 NG #802 #801 copier would immediately go to re-sending then it might go through or not
                  10.10.10.94 OK -- --
Some people may say I have a short temper, but I prefer to call it

Like KL said this machine does not support SSL or TLS (port 465 or 587). You will need to setup a different email that utilizes port 25 (gmail no longer does) I know that Godaddy web mail does allow to use port 25 but you would have to pay them a service fee monthly.
