    Re: canon 5570 E000100-001

Check service mode Copier>Display>D-Pot to see if all values except for target values are blank.

    Workaround :
The cause of the error is a lack of 5VDC at the laser driver PCB. Above connector J4500 on the Laser Driver PCB are 12 round copper pads located directly on the PCB. The copper pad located on the bottom row right side indicates CP5V this pad can be checked with a meter and the output when the laser is functioning correctly is 5 volts DC. If 5VDC is not present replacement of the Laser assembly is required.
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.

          Description
Since the screw tab of the primary fan duct 2 broke, the laser shutter failed to open, thereby causing the error code "E100-0001."

          - E100-0001 can be displayed when VLOCK is not detected 10 times in sequence as a result of checking it at 100ms intervals while the laser is on. (BD error)

          Cause
As the screw tab broke like , the protrusion of the primary fan duct failed to fully get into the aperture on the main body. This caused the laser shutter to fail to open, causing the error.

          Field Remedy
The service manual instructs to replace the laser scanner unit or the DC controller PCB as the solution for the error code, but before following this instruction, be sure to check if the screw tab of primary fan duct has been broken; if so, replace the primary fan duct 2.

Another Field Remedy is to use a large Paperclip wrap one end around the top of the Fan Duct and loop the other so the screw will hold the Unit in place............I know I shouldn't say it, but the Clips outlast the new Ducts and are cheap!
