What is ECM Reception---------

Answer:
You can receive incoming documents using ECM (Error Correction Mode).
It is a way the device will reduce the effect of line communication errors.
ECM is a mode which automatically corrects errors in an image while it is being received.
Even when ECM is set, errors can sometimes occur due to a poor telephone line connection.
If there is trouble with the line, it will take more time to receive the documents.
Note: This mode is available only if the optional Super G3 Fax Board or Super G3 multi-Line Fax Board is installed.
The default setting is 'On'.
While the device communicates using ECM the following takes place.
Please be aware that this information refers to all imageRUNNER Models with the exception of the imageRUNNER ADVANCE
1) A fixed number of data packets are sent.
2) The receiving machine examines the data.
3) If the receiver determines that all data packets are not present, a request will be made to the sending unit to resend the data.
4) If the receiving machine determines that the all the data packets have been received a confirmation is sent to the sending unit.
5) The Sending unit will send the next group of data.
This process will continue for the duration of the fax call. In order for ECM to be effective, both devices must have this feature. If one of the devices does not have ECM capabilities, the communication will proceed in standard G3 mode.
To Enable or Disable ECM for Fax Transmissions, go into Additional Functions followed by Communications Settings. Then Select Fax Settings followed by TX Settings as outlined below.
