[CQ] Canon ImageRunner C4080i Magenta background

We installed an ImageRunner C4080i about a month ago and have been dealing with a pinkish background issue ever since. We swapped the Magenta drum unit and the ITB. We cleaned it several times. After each cleaning it copies OK for about a dozen copies and then it comes back again and went through 1 1/2 magenta toners. We are at a loss. What are we missing? Furthermore this copier only has a total of 18K copies. Please advise. Thanks Johva

Replace the M Laser, the power control goes bad. This laser is becoming much to intense.

If you don;t believe me, swap with another color en see another drum and toner get screwed. I replaced several lasers for this problem now.

        do u have a Fiery connected ? Y/N ?
IF YES> go in and remove it's calibration> then calibrate Printer (FULL)>then calibrate Fiery with Kodak Gray Scale
is issue also on network prints ?
is your waste bottle full of M TONER ?
        If so >>>
magenta laser may be staying on all the time and it caused the drum to empty all of its toner on initial rotation.
as previously posted> swap the Lasers --

u could try clearing the D-CON of the DC/ don't do this if u have not printed out your P PRINT setting to put back in afterward

if u replace the M Laser also replace M Drum at the same time

teckat: Thanks for your reply. No Fiery Print Controller. The toner waste bottle does have allot of Magenta toner. We noticed that the Pascal settings were off from the factory settings and reset them. So far we do not have any Magenta background. We will hold off on replacing the laser unit until we run a bunch of copies for few days. If the problem comes back we will change the laser. I'll let you know how it works out. Thanks again for your assistance. Johva.

            ------------------------
make sure COPIER > OPTION > BODY > PASCAL is always set to "1"
            run the auto gradation >

            then
keep a print out of P PRINT settings with printer // thanks

point> if u clear DCON and don't have those prior P Prints the default setting returns to "0" from Range of Factory Adjustment: -128 to +128

              teckat, fur, kuby.

We replaced the magenta laser unit and reset the laser numbers in service mode. We did a Gradation adjustment and all is good. Another one bites the dust. Thanks for your help. Johva.
