    gears on the machine does not need to use much less oil lubrication, use a lubricant pasta and it did not take much because the material is made of plastic gear

      =======================

      i never lube vinyl gears/ but Canon has come out with a pub on lube-

      the gear friction (heat) from lube will deposit BLACK GUNK on gears
      ================
      CANON
      following three types of lubricant should be used as a substitute for MOLYKOTE PG-641, each of which needs to be used according to the appropriate location and use:

      Super Lube Grease--Semisolid=FY9-6005-000
      USE-Plastic,Rubber,Resin,Metal (Normal temperature and low pressure location)

      G-50000H--Semisolid=FY9-6022-000
      USE--Plastic,Rubber,Metal (Normal temperature and low pressure location)

      MOLYKOTE G-8022=FY9-6026-000
      USE--Metal (High temperature and high pressure location)

      • Be sure to clean old grease off using a lint free cloth moistened with alcohol prior to applying new
      grease.
      On some equipment models, there are areas where applying grease is prohibited. For these situations, a Technical Publication will be released advising as such.

      It pays to know your model and it's recommended maintenance

      when in doubt / don't use lube

        I'll agree with teckat on this.

        The majority of non-metallic gears on copiers are made of delrin (aka polyoxymethylene: Polyoxymethylene - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ). They need very little lubrication in most applications. Thick lubricants mostly tend to collect particulate (toner, dirt, whatever is handy) to create a thick paste that binds up the gear drive.

        Like all rules there are exceptions. The first exception is squeaky or squealing gears, usually at the gear bore. A single drop of light oil will quiet it down nicely. (Not the gear teeth surface)

        The second exception is gears that are near a heat source like the fuser. Uniflor 8172 works best in applications near the fuser. Like before I do not lubricate the gear teeth, only the gear bore and bushings, and only if they are noisy. HP style fixing films always require lubrication, also Uniflor 8172.

        If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
