    canon IR7105 finisher V1

    Hi guys,
I have a problem with the lower sort tray of the finisher V1. The controller board has two red led's next to the connectors which connect the respective upper and lower paper output trays. When the finisher is powered on both the leds come on the led connected with the upper tray stays brightly lit where as the led connected with the lower tray comes on bright and then fades away. The finisher functions only with the upper output tray where as the lower tray remains in-active the machine does not throw up any errors, works normally with the upper tray.Any suggestions ,help guys??
    thanks

    Hi,

had problems similar to this before, not sure if this will help but it worked wonders for me. Along the railings the carry the the trays up and done are some optic sensors that monitor the positioning of the trays, i had an issue where they would just move erratically. I simply cleaned the sensors and it was just that easy, everything was back to normal. It was a problem i struggled with for a couple of days before i noticed the sensors. maybe give it a try, cant hurt. Ive attached a snippet from a manual that shows the location of the sensors.

    good luck.Capture.JPG

If the board replacement doesn't solve the problem then perhaps it's the tray lift motor itself. Swap the upper tray stepper motor with the lower one just to test it out. It just seems that the dimming light indicates excessive power drain when something is pulling down the voltage in the system but it's just a guess.
