    IR4570 lines using document feeder

When using scanning glass I get intermittent thin black lines(in paper feed direction) in varying lengths at different places on the copy. It looks just like a spec was on the scanning glass temporarily. The scanning glass looks brand new to me and the document feeder is fairly level. The white roller and strip is clean on document feeder. I do not have the problem when copying off the copy board glass. Thank you for any help.

Hi, try to take out left retainer glass and clean it well (Normally i use spirit liquid to clean). Sometimes the dust came from inside. Since u taking out the retaining glass clean the scanner lamp as well. If the problem still appear try to change retainer glass left.

I agree. If you clean the whole optics area and then pay special attention to the slip glass on both sides. Mixing alcohol and foam cleaner works for me. Good luck.

The shmutz can be on either side of the slit glass, or on the CIS lens.

Yes, I know you said that it doesn't happen off the copyboard. When the scanner rail lubrication gets hard and lumpy, the CIS assembly can tip a little at the end of their travel. So a speck that is not in the light path while scanning from the glass, can be in the light path when it runs under the slit glass.

The solution is to clean and lubricate the scanner rails, the re-clean the optics with alcohol. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
