I have a mis-registration of the four colours on IR C5185. This would have been a simple issue on a Xerox with which I'm more conversant. Can someone pls help with some suggestions on this matter. Thanks

First thing I would do is remove the transfer belt from the ITB frame and clean all rollers inside, if this belt is close to or over 300k it must be replaced. Second thing would be to go to Service Mode, Level 2, COPIER/FUNCTION/CLEAR/REG-CLR. This usually resolves the issue, follow it up by a Full Auto Gradation adjustment. -

I am back here on this matter and i'm not smiling yet! Let me tell you what I have done so far:
1. I have done the REG CLR and Auto gradation (full)
2. I have cleaned up the transfer belt assembly and the sensors on the Auto Registration sensor PCB
3. I have swapped the C with the K laser unit after resetting its lens motor cam to the home position to know if it is caused by the laser.
4. I have done: Service mode 2: Function/Laser: LD-ADJ-Y, LD-ADJ-M, LD-ADJ-C. Enable with OK
Problem persists after all the above!!!
But I had a problem printing PG6. When in service mode LEVEL 1, I did --COPIER>TEST>PG>TYPE
under TYPE select/input "6" -hit OK> Press Print button, when I do all these, it does not respond or print anything at all.
So I guess what I need to know now is what to do to make it print PG6 and subsequently how to correct whatever colour displacement pattern is revealed on PG6.

Did you clean rollers and replace ITB? Overused drums can leak toner into the inside of transfer belt causing slipping.Comment

did u check the External Secondary Transfer roller position ?? is onside pitched ?
Check the ITB drive gear unit\ they wear down _those slanted (helical) gears walk over each other-

Hello guys,
Thanks so far. I am finally able to print PG6, many thanks to Skynet....the tray set on PG PICK had no paper!
Now i have a PG6 whose vertical lines are almost perfectly aligned, though a very slight misalignment is visible, i'm sure this level of displacement is not unacceptable.
The horizontal lines are however not aligned at all for each colour. They are almost parallel though. I believe if i can close up the misalignment, i will be good.
I again dismantled the ITB blew it out with air-blower and cleaned out all the rollers. I also checked the drive gear Teckat mentioned, it looks good. I opened the small cover over the ITB on the right side while running, and it runs smoothly implying that the drive gear is ok.
But problem still persists!!!!!
Could there be a soft adjustment or setting for correcting this problem?DgtalComment

The synchronization in sub scanning direction is controlled with reference to the PTOP signal (image formation start signal).
- When the mechanism becomes ready for image formation, the PTOP signal (image formation start signal) is generated, turning on the individual lasers based on the signal. = in this order >Yellow>Magenta>Cyan>Black
Detecting/Correcting Color Displacement in Sub Scanning Direction
Yellow pattern is used as the reference------------
Correcting Image Displacement
- displacement of the photosensitive drum caused by replacement of the drum unit/toner container
->displacement in sub scanning direction
- displacement of laser path caused by replacement of laser unit
->displacement/angle in main scanning direction
- displacement in laser path length caused by changes in temperature inside machine
->variation in magnification

I cleaned the PATCH sensor as you recommended. See my PG6 print attached. Like I said vertical lines are good. The problem is on the horizontal. Note that the yellow is present after the magenta lines. Second transfer roller cleaned but not replaced....could this be seriously responsible for the problem?Attached FilesDgtalComment

It provided a lot of info and i found out how to resset all the lasers to home position manually in it, which i did. The idea i got from this bulletin is that if i do this, the machine can then automatically move the lenses of C, M, and Y (leaving K as reference) to give the proper alignment. But this is not happening. The machine moves the lenses quite alright, but not enough to correctly align the four laser guns. So how to specifically move each laser gun onto alignment with each other and bypass the machine's judgement (which i think is one way out here), it does not mention.
If you can describe this to me, you would have solved my problem for me. Thanks.

put them back> power up printer> then do a FULL AUTO GRADATION>nothing else----------

techs used that on 3200 series/ usually image issue returns/ Lazy way out/ +u need a P PRINT to re-input values back from default as a result of the CLEAR----
Do not execute a “Clear DCon Controller” operation, as it will
delete all the values entered for the Laser data. The effects of this clearing more often than not lead to more
confusion and problems, without resolving the fault in any way.
