[Dead] Canon ira c 2030l not booting up

Hi all,

Have a problem with the above mentioned machine, basically it doesn't boot up, the load bar that appears at the bottom, just gets about 1/3 the way across and then just sits there, after a few mins it goes completely blank. I have since done a BOOT SYSTEM ERROR DIAGNOSIS and a CONTROLLER SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS with neither giving me any error reports, basically all is well according to the self diagnosis.

Never had this issue before, so would appreciate all the help I can get. I suspect that theres something wrong with the main controller but don't want to just throw spares at the machine aimlessly.

I had a similar situation last week with IRADVC5030 and the resolution was just isolating fax board. If a fax connected unplug from main controller and power on mfd, if boot up ok then power off and plug in fax.

Another way to eliminate; If you can go into service mode and safe mode and your boot/mcon diagnosis results ok then you might replace the HDD or the DIMMS on MCON.

there's no fax on this MFD and there's no HDD on the standard "L" models, will try the obvious and change the main controller, will let you know the results......

We had this once approx. 12 months ago on a 2020. We reloaded system software and it was ok. Not sure if you have tried this?

Thanks for the ideas, but unfortunately no joy as yet.

So far I have changed both main controllers and the dc controller as well as the reader controller and no difference. I have also tryied upgrading firmware but I cant get onto the download menu to get it to download firmware. I have also tried disconnecting the reader assy from the machine and still the same result.

I really have no idea whats with this machine........please help.....

Can you get into download by holding down the 2 and 8 button when you power the machine on?

cant get in at all (service mode), the only thing it responds to is the boot diagnosis and main controller diagnosis but they both come back with no faults found.

right now I'm trying to replace the power supply and the control panel as well as the high voltage pcb, though I dont see how the high voltage will help but at this point im running out of boards to replace.

You don't need to get into service mode - just hold down the 2 and 8 button when you switch the main power on until the download screen appears. Sorry if I have mis-understood and you have tried this.

no sweat, i have tried doing that (switch on while holding down 2 & 8) but nothing, it doesn't respond.

so far i have replaced pretty much everything,

reader controller
main controller 1 & 2
dc controller
low voltage pcb
high voltage pcb
power supply
control panel

i think i may have a fix, petrol and a match.....

Just a thought. Maybe you could force a download mode using SST. Also check all the connectors to the power supply.

UNBELIEVABLE...... so after many days of issues with this machine i finally got it going.

tried to force download, boot in fixed ip mode, tried usb firmware update and nothing worked. just would not boot up.the only thing that would work is the main controller diagnostics.

Today i tried booting up in fixed ip mode and for some strange reason it booted up in fixed ip mode. I have since managed to update the firmware and test it as thoroughly as possible with no problems as yet.

I would have liked to share the fix with you guys but honestly i still cant say exactly why it did what it did and what exactly was the cause. counting blessings and running hard and fast...

Anyways I'd like to thank those of you who tried to share some ideas, much appreciated.

have u ever checked your supply voltage from outlet ???
should not fluctuate beyond -/+10%
also ground to neutral should be 0v>0.5 Max

is the outlet a dedicated one ( meaning nothing else is using that supply line)

Hi Teckat,

i did check the voltages, the only voltage issue i had was that i wasn't getting 24v to the reader controller, but i did replace the power supply and that didn't change anything, it then miraculously just switched on after a couple of days and i have run it for a couple of days now just to be sure. hate that i fixed it without actually being 100% certain of what was actually wrong, i think in some way booting up in fixed ip mode may have somehow helped getting the machine to boot up but i cant be certain.
