IR2018n paper jam

Hi All


Please help me fix this error.
I tried to print and found jamming error.
Then I found out that there are bits of paper looks like small mice feasting on paper inside the paper tray. Yes they were able to get inside the tray. After clearing the bits of paper the paper jam won't disappear.

I have no service manual to guide me where those sensors are. I hope someone could help me fix this problem.
I was wondering if there are other culprits causing this error like I need to reset a counter or something.

up paper reaches this sensor.

SERVICE MODE=press Additional functions key > then #2 key >then # 8 key > then Additional functions key
2) Select "# REPORT" using < or > , and then press the OK.
3) Select "REPORT OUTPUT" using < or > , and then press the OK.
4) Select "ERROR LOG LIST" using ,< or > , and then press the OK.

I tried the service mode and I could only get to the Report output with error log list on the second line. Pressing OK will just create beeping sound.

it's called "Investigate" to "Look"there are no short cuts--

if u have a mouse issue in printer> u need to gut(remove Assembly's) to fully check(including checking the wires)

Wow if you had had mice living in the machine maybe they have chewed through some wires!!??

I thought I could get into service mode (even with errors) to see the log and pinpoint the culprit.


Yeah chewed wires could be possible too. I have scrutinized the bottom part where there are wires but found them intact. Not sure if the mice has entered the inner part of the machine. AFAIK they could only get inside the tray.

I see you posted parts and their life span. Will any of this parts at end life cause the paper jam error?
So far the only parts replaced is the developing unit.

So you cleared the jam, closed all the covers and it's still indicating a jam? If so is the LED indicating that the paper is still jammed in the lower left cover?

Yes.


Actually, the copier did not even start the printing. There was no paper movement into the rollers. I noticed the blinking light so I checked and found the jam error but there was no paper in between rollers only bits of paper inside the tray chewed by the mice.

check cassette retry sensor arm sticking on frame. Hook shaped part of arm on opposite side to where sensor arm makes/breaks sensor is the part that catches.

Looks like I need to remove parts to access the retry sensor. Do you have a guide on how to disassemble?
