ir2230 USB & NIC ports, no USB communication, no network settings

    Hello all,

Is there a way I can check to see if my Canon imagerunner 2230 (not ADVANCE) has a network or printer upgrade?

It has a USB port and an ethernet port. Initially this copier was password protected through the System Manager and Department ID systems. I entered service mode and cleared the passwords. Unfortunately "Network Settings" doesn't seem available as it's not displayed in Additional Functions. Also I cannot get a computer to recognize it through a direct USB connection. All computers run Windows 7 Pro or Enterprise 64-bit. I have attempted to install print drivers such as PCL5 and URFII. During the USB connection portion of the install, the copier isn't recognized as being connected. The only option I have then is to cancel the install. I have tried installing the drivers using a "install legacy hardware" in Device Manager, but I get an error after I choose the INF file about it not being compatible with the device, although no device is highlighted.

    Thanks in advance,

    Kyle

this machine was a basic canon copier.
go back in to service mode and check copier>display>version - look for the boot rom and see what letter is next to it. If you have C then you cannot print to it. If you have a P then you can download print drivers and connect it for printing. Not sure about USB anymore, but you can easily assign an IP address to it in system settings and make it a network printer.
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.

If you are to, Download and install the 64-bit drivers for your system.

          Thanks charm5496. It's a "C" :/

I figured it must not have had the printer upgrade since I didn't see "Network Settings", but seeing an Ethernet port made me desperately hold onto hope. I don't foresee the boss wanting to spend the money to upgrade it, although he's the one that wanted something to print 11x17's documents. No loss regardless since I got it from our surplus
