Re: ira5xxx waste toner failure
The only thing I noticed with some of these waste toner bottles is that occasionally the shutter will warp a bit, causing the little clip on one of the inlets to eithe break, or rise over the edge of the inlet; Customers will not notice this and of course if it doesn't go in nicely, they will force it in. When this happens I have found that the shutter isn't opened all the way and the ITB cleaner will back up right above the yellow dev, and then start to pour over and down into the first cassette. This is when I replace the bottle.
By the time I started to get any problems with waste on these machines, Canon had already modded the bottle and the ITB cleaner to clear up most of the issues. Of course if a customer is running the hell out of the machine, it's going to get dirty.
For all you guys saying it's unprofessional on-site and whatnot, we bring down a clean spare and then take the full one back to the shop when we are out and about. Later in the week we'll empty 10-20 of them to be ready.
Has anybody tried ordering the newer bottles from the C5200 series? I find them to work a lot better...they seem to made a little more rugged. Also has a trap door on it that you can remove to pour the toner out in one shot.
