Hi everyone, I have a customer that is getting an intermittent E051 code. I known that it is a problem with the horizontal registration home position mechanism. I have not worked on very many of these machines and not for a long time. I seem to remember changing the sensor and motor on one a long time ago and had the problem return. I was going to replace the DC controller , but was saved because they decided to upgrade. Is there anything else I should do or look at when I look at the machine later this week? Any other of you old timers that remember any short cuts or advice please chime in. I remember it not being a fun thing to do. TIA

Re: IR 330s E051
You have to remove the entire paper feed/pickup assembly. At the top is PS10 with motor and a white plastic guide. Chances are 99.9999% that your white gear on the motor itself is worn down and can't properly cycle the horizontal registration assembly. Could be worse, could be a 3100 lol

Re: IR 330s E051
Sorry it took so long to reply, but the customer has very short work hrs. I changed all the parts that northernlife suggested and after 5 hrs ( I left a plug unplugged and had to find it ) the machine seems to run fine. add to your rep northenlife, Thanx.TotoroComment

Glad to help. being the sole tech for 10 years at a small indy canon dealer I've seen pretty much all of the weird stuff that the canon's have thrown at me.
