    Canon ir5020 web advance gears

I haven't a parts manual for this copier but I was wondering if somebody knew the part number for the gears that are clustered together to drive the fuser web. I believe that there are about a half dozen that are all the same, they tend to dry out and crack, thus stopping the web advance. Thanks

Replace the black gear (FS7-0045-000) with FS7-0893-000. You should also replace the other web advance gears with the following: FS7-0091-000, FS7-0894-000 and FS7-0895-000. For best results replace all 4 gears as a set.

I can send you the PC for the fixing in pdf if you need it, just send me a PM

Sticky Solenoid, gummy gear shafts - but never a busted gear - clean & lube the above.

after you get one with 3 mil on it you'll see that the gears actually wear down, binds and it's unable to turn the gears.

If the web is not turning have you looked at the one way arm. Item 19 in parts diagram, part number FB2-7228-000 1 ARM, ONE-WAY. Had to replace a few of these.

I make up kits with 5 gears, shaft, one way arms and rebuild the whole thing because you don't know which ones bad til you take it apart.

This, exactly this. I keep a kit in my 5000 tackle box with the gears seperately, or a pulled assembly from a good machine. Kind of a shame to get rid of the 5000/5020s as they are fricking rock stable machines. Other than the connector at the back of the 2nd tray breaking (what a pita that is to change) this is still my favourite machine to service. We have two 5000's at the front of our shop for customer usage.

Re: Canon ir5020 web advance gears

Thanks for all your help guys. Most of the ir 5000/5020/6020 copiers that I have out there have around 2 million copies on them. They are great machines but time is taking it's toll on these boxes more so than the milage has so far. The web drive gears are dried/cracked/worn and toothless, kinda sounds like me.

                    Thanks again,

                    Ron
