Canon IR Advance 2020 Multifeeding in ADF

I have a Canon IRa 2020 that is multifeeding in the doc feeder. It has the updated sep pad holder. And there is no jam code as it just will let 2 sheets go through every so often. Any suggestions?

They are famous for this...no separtion plate to shingle papers before sep pad.....slug feed. Poor design....newer pad with off-white plastic(actually from ir1750) doesn't work much better

That and the bouncy original detect sensors that seem to get bound up in the up position, feeds all the originals, it doesn't drop, and it gives a jam. Solved it by using the little brass bushing that holds the clean web spring clips in the 5000's on one side and it no longer bounces.

daft question but have you taken the feed and pickup rollers out?

if so did you make sure they were sat correctly?

does the machine 'pickup' the feed assembly when you close the lid?

could use a little more information about it's behaviour and yes, the IRA20xx series DF's are poorly designed.
