Are the Lines in The Paper Feed Direction or Across the Drum?

Question :
I have a Copy with Lines {Black or White} the whole length of the Copy. When describing the Copy Quality issue, many times I am asked if the Lines are in the Paper Feed Direction or Across The Drum. How can I confirm the direction of the lines?

Answer :
Example : Making Copies in the Letter Direction using Test Chart NA2.
Lines in the Paper Feed Direction
The lines will run from the Lead Edge of the copy to the Trail edge of the copy. The eleven inch edge to the eleven inch edge of the paper.
Lines Across The Drum
The lines will run from Side to Side. The eight and a half inch edge to the eight and a half inch edge of the paper.
Note:

Other terminology you may hear describing Lines Across The Drum or Lines in the Paper Feed Direction are:

• Front to Rear
• Lead to Trail
• Main Scanning Direction
• Sub Scanning Direction
• Operator Side / Non Operator Side
• Around The Drum
• Vertical / Horizontal
• In Track / Cross Track

Below is an example of a Copy run in the Letter Direction with lines in the Paper Feed Direction and Lines Across The Drum. All other terminology describing lines are included also.
