    irc 4080 question

So this is another irc4080 that I just purchased for resale and there is a little problem, this screen shot seen here will not update, everr.

And this is what it looks like around the back.

The scuzzy cable or whatever it's called does connect up to the H1 colour pass unit just in case you wondered. Both cables have been tested and work fine. That is a crosspatch.

    and a closer look.

    is it an H1?

    and lastly.

I did make a mistake when I first bought it by using a standard CAT 5 cable between the copier and the colorpass unit. I'm wondering if this could have blown something? The copier does make copies and everything does seem to be fine but it would be nice to get the H1 going, Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Ron

    Re: irc 4080 question

The network cable connecting H1 to the machine is a cross one (not straight).
I don't think you could have caused any damage by connecting a straight one.

Apart from that what you face is a connectivity issue. Try to curl the big cable in another direction and check. Sometimes that will suffice.

      Set IMG-CONT back to "0"
Power of Printer > unplug \& Remove all H1 cables from Printer>
Plug back in> Power up again> When Printer comes to Ready State>
Go back to service mode >set IMG-CONT back to "3">
      OK !!
Exit service mode> connect all cables back from H1 to Printer>
Now follow the shut down procedure on control panel> then flip off Printer side power switch-
      Wait until complete shutdown-
Now flip on Main Printer Power switch> all should be ok
U should now see Printer Tab on panel to load network settings
      Note: password is Fiery.1

Yup, I've seen the H1 regain connection after doing this. If that doesnt work you may have to reload the H1 system software.

          ---------------

to add on my other reply

remove/ clean end & re-seat the Fiery Open I/F PCB inside printer

way back on new installs w/H1 or return visit on a H1 install

I always did set Printer to '3' for COPIER>OPTION>INTFACE> IMG-CONT. (This way, the appropriate IP address will automatically be setup for communication between the machine and its host machine.)
Then I would do the H1 SET UP procedure/install>

          1-Power off Printer
always follow the control panel shut down procedure>in all cases
[Press the [Shutdown]key, After the machine has been shutdown] is displayed on the LCD. Push the button of [Shutdown].
[Turn off the main power switch (on the main unit's right side)] is displayed on the LCD. The power supply is automatically turned off.
          ( remove it's outlet cable )
          2-insert I/F Board
          3-hook H1 to printer back
4-set in all cables > H1 to Printer (inc it's power cable to outlet)
5-Plug in Printers cable>Power up printer
          6-check the DIAG 2-digit LEDs on H1
          7-when Printer ready>
Now do the Network Set up-----------------------
          1) Press (=>) displayed at upper right on the LCD of the connecting device.
          2) At the Control Panel, press [Printer]tab.
          3) Press [Printer Status/Settings].
Password is Fiery.1 / (do not use anything else)

          ================================================== =========

Shutdown Mode function that should be used before powering off the machine. Shutting the machine down properly will help protect the data on the machine's hard drive. Use the following procedure: 1. Enter Shutdown Mode by either of the following methods:
I - Press Additional Functions > Common Settings > Shut Down Mode.
          OR
II - Hold down the ON/OFF power button on the machine's control panel for 5 seconds (NOT the ON/OFF power switch on the side of the machine's main body).

          2. The Shutdown Mode screen will appear on the machine's LCD screen. It will display the processes currently running on the machine.

          3. Press the Start button on the LCD screen to begin the shutdown process.
          4. Wait until the shutdown process finishes. When it is finished, the following message will be displayed:
'Turn off the main power switch (on the main unit's right side).'
          * Forced Off Option - If the shutdown process is taking too long and you must power down the machine as soon as possible, you can hit the Forced Off button on the LCD screen. This will stop the finishing process of the hardware and/or updating of the device data. The 'Turn off the main power switch (on the main unit's right side)' message will appear almost immediately. THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED. It is best to let the shutdown process finish before powering off the main unit.

          * The newer machines will power themselves off at the end of this process. There is no need to use the power switch on the side of the machine's main body to power down the unit.

          5. Turn off the ON/OFF power switch on the side of the machine's main body to power down the unit.

            Re: irc 4080 question

Sorry for the late reply, it's been a crazy month but thanks for all of your help guys. Though after using all of the previously mentioned tricks and potions, the irc 4080 copier is still not excepting the H1 colorpass. Here's another interesting screen shot:

The funny thing is that I don't have a fax hooked up to this copier, nor a fax board, but also I noticed that the network board is not mentioned in the list. Should I just do a big ram clear? Thoughts?

            Thanks,

            Ron

Looking at your pictures, it looks like you have the Fiery DIP switches in the wrong position, see page 8 on the PDF below, they should both be down???

Pop the cover off the Imagepass. Remove the NVM battery(round). Reseat all the ram, connectors, etc. Clean dust bunnies. Re-install the battery. Try booting up.
