    IR 3200 Image Quality Problem

    Hello

I have a Problem with a Canon IR 3200,if i make a normal copy or a Print the copy/print is ok, but if i make a copy/print of a document with big letters or a Photo in it the quality is not so good, the letters are light /blured inside and not really black, but a kind of grey.
I tried to change the Drum Unit and the Development Unit and also the Transfer Unit but the result is the same........

    Thank you

the drum unit and the dv unit are the one and the same... if printing is ok then the problem sounds like it is to do with the scanner ..because you prints are k.. have you did a auto gridation... to see if that changes anything... also is it just black that is bad or all colors????

The Canon IR3200 is a color machine. Is it an IR3300 maybe?

sounds like peterrepeat might be right, not a color machine. Sounds like somebody tried to save money and not put the right toner in the machine.

How many copies the machine does now? Did you ever clean the laser unit?

Stop the image under the drum and see if the image is good there. It should be good there because I believe that the problem lies in the fuser unit. Change the fuser film.

Try to increase and reduce darkness from the first screen to see any change, if no, go to ADJUST in service mode and check the value for DENS....

                      Keep It Simple S.....

Have you checked to see what the default original settings are? Is it set default to text, photo, text/photo?

Not real familiar with the Canons just yet but the problem you describe is dead on with a Ricoh set to text/photo or photo mode. The machine is sharpening the images by giving more grayscale gradation and doesn't handle text very well when doing this.

                      Just a thought

after replacing the drum you need to go to functions in service mode and run DGamma. then go through the ccd adjustments that the service manual says to do. ccd adjust, shading etc. check the door specs and see if your machine is set to door specs first. (default specs) check your transfer to see if you see anything there, transfer roller etc. that needs help. dev assy too.
