    canon 4080i smudging

Have a 4080i that is smudging on the page. Needed new black drum and magenta drum and I figured that would take care of it. Smudging still there. Cleaned the transfer unit, still there. Fusing unit looks OK about 80,000 on it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Very common fault on this model & the previous CLC3200 series.

Remove & clean the ITB belt, particularly the metal plate that sits on the underside, toner builds up on this plate (from the leaking black drum unit) & causes the exact issue you have.

      hi,

I agree with Copier Tech, very common problem, thorough clean of the ITB assy should do the trick......

There is a modified plate for this...plate hangs down away from belt....installed many in the past
