    Canon iR3220 ADF Installation

I was having constant trouble with the ADF jamming, so I purchased an entire unit. The new ADF does detect paper, but it does not feed at all. I have tried the DOCSTS settings, but no success. Is there something in the install process I am missing?

    Your help is greatly appreciated!

Does the original placement lamp light

Do the Pick-up Rollers for the DADF Drop down but do not rotate to feed the paper in & a jam is indicated in the DADF.

Check that the DADF inlet sensor flag (SR40) isn't hanging up or have a torn piece of paper blocking it.

or the Pick-up Rollers Do Not Drop down ???

There was an issue with the 14T gear in the separation drive assembly> it can chip, causing abnormal noise and paper pickup jams.

Pain in the A** to change----------gear is press fitted onto a shaft and is not replaceable.
replacement of the separation drive assembly is necessary.

Remove cover over DF pcb board> check dip switches positions !!!

Does it react at all when you hit start(if doc lamp is lighting)? Try to feed? Make a noise like something is happening? Or just hit start and does nothing? Is it crippled or is it brain-dead...lol

The doc lamp does light, and it makes the click right before it would pull the paper, but then nothing.

                Re: Canon iR3220 ADF Installation

I purchased it from ebay. The seller said that it had been tested before they shipped it and it fed paper smoothly. The pick up rollers do drop down and the dip switches all are in the off position. I reinstalled the original DADF to the machine and it works as it did before. The issue that I am having with it is that it will only feed a couple of sheets from the tray and it will not duplex at all. The question now, is if in your opinion could I fix those issues with parts from the non functional unit or just cut my losses and send it back.

Thanks so much for your help guys! I really appreciate your being willingness to give me a hand!

                  -----------------------------

send it back to eBay like i said it's a pain to replace that separation drive assembly >if it's not lined up properly>u need to take it all apart again
                  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                  explain the DUPLEX issue further ????( no reverse>jam on return> jam code>error code,etc. ????
Jam occurs in the reversal / delivery area
check Mylar attached to the internal delivery guide, FB6-4998-000. Replace the guide.

                  Maintenance ---needs cleaning>or replacement(PAD can not be cleaned,TIP>stretch spring a little) )
1-on the other DADF> replace the rollers & separation pad.

                  2-do u have a DADF K1 Service Manual ????

3-here is a small ver for replacing PAD &ROLLERS

                    Re: Canon iR3220 ADF Installation

I do have the full service manual, but I do not have the DADF service manual. If I do one page only the paper returns fine. If I do more than one it does not return and jams. When I try to duplex I can hear it flip but it does not return. It jams on the right side.

Thanks again for all of your help!

there is a fix for that> trying to recall

inside REVERSE COVER ASSEMBLY there is a black plastic >long very thin rod w/a spring attached to end> it falls out of position (snaps into small notch) or even breaks/ I used to carry a few wrapped in bubble wrap (try to prevent it breaking )

paper edge hits the middle flag w/spring > on the other end of plastic rod that flag needs to unblock/block a sensor

& sometimes I needed to replace the entire Reverse Delivery U nit to solve issues with REVERSAL

#7 in pic // FB5-0389-000 (Canon uses weird descriptions for some parts )
                      #6 is spring // FB5-0388-000

                      Delivery operation (forward rotation)
Reverse delivery registration sensor (SR5)detects (ON) the document leading edge and the reverse delivery motor (M3) rotates forward. (The document is sent to the reverse delivery assembly.)
                      Delivery operation (reverse rotation)
The reverse delivery registration sensor (SR5) detects (OFF) the trailing edge of the document.

Reverse inlet sensor (U505) detects (ON) the leading edge of the document and the feed motor (M2) rotates in reverse. (The document is returned to the copyboard glass.)
Reverse inlet sensor (U505) detects (OFF) the trailing edge of the document. The delivery motor (M2) feeds the document till the leading edge is in the reverse stop position and then stops.

Thanks I'll give it a shot. Will this solve the return on single sided copies as well?
