You cannot use Color Network ScanGear with imageRUNNER series color digital copiers equipped with an optional USB interface board.

    Connecting to a USB Interface
You can connect the machine to a computer with a USB port via a USB cable. The machine is USB 2.0 Hi-Speed compatible. The printer drivers, USB class driver, and utility that matches the operating system on your computer will be installed.

For more information on installing the printer driver through a USB connection, see the PCL Driver Guide, the PS Driver Guide, or the
    UFR II Driver Guide.

    • When the machine is connected to a personal computer via the USB cable, you will not be able to use some of the utilities.

    • If you connect the machine to a personal computer via a USB cable, confirm that [Use USB Device] (in the System Settings screen) is set to 'On'.

    • If the machine is connected to a computer with a USB cable, you can print a document from your computer using the printer driver, or send a fax from your computer using the fax driver.

    • You cannot specify a computer connected to the machine through a USB connection as a destination for Send jobs or forwarded jobs. Also, with that computer, you cannot use the Remote UI and the Network Scan function.

    IMPORTANT

If you are using (Color) Network ScanGear for the first time after installing it, the network scanner to be used must be selected with the ScanGear Tool.

The (Color) Network ScanGear driver cannot be started at the same time as the ScanGear Tool.
If the ScanGear Tool is running, close it.

    * Note -
The Color-Enabled iRs and B&W iRs that have color scan capability such as the iR3245 must use Color
Network ScanGear, which operates in the same manner.
(Color) Network ScanGear is started by accessing it from a TWAIN compliant application as follows:
    1. On the imageRUNNER-iR copier, press the Scan button. Press Online.
    2. On the PC, start the TWAIN-compliant application.
    3. In the application, select (Color) Network ScanGear as the scanner to be used. In the application, choose the
command that selects a scanner, then select (Color) Network ScanGear in the dialog box that appears. After doing this operation once, there is no need to repeat it.
    4. In the application, choose the command that starts scanning operation (for example, "Scan New" or "Acquire"). The (Color) Network ScanGear Main Window appears. Individual items in this window are explained below.
    NOTE:
See the documentation provided with your software application for commands and procedures used to select (Color) Network ScanGear and start scanning.
The window that appears when (Color)Network ScanGear is opened in an application is called the (Color) Network
    ScanGear Main Window.

Yes, no USB scan on this model.

Your best option is to set up scan to email using a gmail account.

or you can also get a cross over network cable and connect it directly and use network scangear or the included push scan with SMB, all valid options and easy to set up
