    B&W Prints Click as Color? iRC3220 w/ ImagePass C1

    Hey folks,

Got an iRC3220 w/ an ImagePass C1 attached. We have Department ID Management configured for several users. Latest Print Drivers are setup directly from each PC (Not shared) and I have their default color mode set to B&W. Each ID is allowed to print color, but we're trying to set it up so that the user must physically switch the color mode each time.

What's happening is that the user will print something that has color, and it's printing in color and counting as a color copy. Problem is it should be in B&W, as per the default color mode. The prints should be coming out B&W and not clicking as color.

    Any ideas?

The resolution I received did not work. Still looking for an answer to this myself. Please post if you find something that works.

          thank you!

If this is from a Microshaft application then that is the issue. There is a bulletin on Microshafts website about this. It seems that some of the imbedded black images are being treated as a "greyscale" color documents. Also I would take the department id code out of the driver so it prompts for it if the selection is incorrect.
And Star Trek was just a tv show...yeah right!

From a Canon rep, this fix has worked for us so far:

I was able to duplicate the issue in the lab. I found out that the problem was occurring because there is a setting in tha page setup properties within Access that overrides the print driver settings. The way to correct this is as follows.

              1. Open the document that is failng to print in Black and White.

              2. Click on Print and select Print Preview.

              3. Click on the Page Setup icon on the Access toolbar.

              4. Click on Page tab

              5. Select Use Specific Printer option.

              6. Click on Printer button

              7. Choose the C3200-C1 printer

              8. Go to properties.

              9. Choose Quality tab.

              10. From Color mode select Black and White

              12. Click on ok until you exit.

              13. Now print document.

              14. Close out document ad close Microsoft Access and reopen then try to print. It should default to Black and White.
