Do you have the service manual for this machine? if you follow this instructions in that you will put the shutter back correctly.

Check the Shutter Sensor & Bracket are mounted properly - maybe swap with Web Sensor - check Shutter rotates freely when turned with your finger.

: Because of the structure of the fixing upper unit, it is possible that the metal plate, to which the shutter HP sensor (PS53) is attached, is pushed upward by the hand and deformed when the unit is removed from the machine. If this plate is deformed, E840-0001 will be displayed. Therefore, be sure not to deform it when removing the fixing upper unit. The part number for the bracket is FC6-3839-000

pictures below show the improper position of the stopper.

These pictures below show the proper position of the stopper.

The stopper is located on the rear of the Fixing Assembly pictured below.

                1. You should never remove the shutter and reassemble unit to run. It is an integral part of the heater unit and necessary to achieve proper fixing temperatures.
                2. Common problem with disassembly and reassembly with this type of fuser is forgetting to remove and reposition shutter gear lock pins. There are two, one at the front and one at the rear. They are step 1 in fuser upper disassembly instructions and they prevent the shutter gears from rotating to assist in alignment durring reassembly.
                3. Check that both ends of the shutter drive shaft is properly seated on its positioning pegs front and rear and that the gears on the ends properly meet the shutter rotation gears.
                4. If Durring disassembly you removed the shutter completely from heater unit, it is possible that you put it on in the wrong direction, on end has a tab that runs in a channel on the heater allowing complete rotation. Put on wrong it travels in the seam of the heater which only goes halfway around.

If all above is not the case replace shutter motor.
                Hope it helped

The pins should have been mentioned in the manual you read

You got it, the first 2 screws you should be touching upon disassembly. You can do it without but it requires a good steady hand and experience.
