or in service mode> go to COPIER> DISPLAY> VERSION
    I got into COPIER> DISPLAY > VERSION, but then which one is the system software. I show a MEDIA-EN = 42.01 & LANG-ES = 90.40.

Ok. I have MN-CONT 90.40, so that should allow the black only mode. I have DEV-SP1 bit 0 set to 1. Mine was set to (0000 1110) now it is (0000 1111). Is there any way to tell that it is actually in black only mode.

Make some Black only copies on glass , then
          Check your counters

This only works if u follow the rules

Bit adjust will stay - unless u change it back

I am doing black only copies on the glass.

101 Total1 increments with each print
108 Total(Black1) increments with each print

Is 101 the color counter or is it something else?

Re: Using CMY Toner when printing Black & White

Alright! Starting the new day. From previous work I should have a black only mode. I got the counters rearranged showing color & black prints seperate. When I make a black copy from the glass it show 1 click for the black and no clicks for the color. Everything seems great. I then made some black only from the glass again with the covers open. All 4 drums were still running. I thought the CMY drum would not run in black only mode, or I am missing something.

Re: Using CMY Toner when printing Black & White

Well again I appreciate all the help. I am reading everything I can get my hands on.

The fact still remains I am running a B&W job and still watching my CMY level go down. This should be a no brainer, not sure what is making this so difficult.

This printer should be able to run B&W even when CMY is depleted. When CMY run out it forces me to replace, even though I am running a B&W job.

I did find a BK-MODE in Level 1> COPIER>OPTION>BODY not sure if this would help or not. I can't find it in the service manual.

Re: Using CMY Toner when printing Black & White

I finally got it working. Under Service Level 1 COPIER> OPTION> BODY> BK-MODE changed from 0 to 1. The CMY developers do not run on Black & White jobs now. Works perfectly from the glass or from the Fiery RIP. I really thank you for all the help.

                        Thanks

The Canon Factory Default value for that BK-MODE is always "1"

some one had to change it to "0"
