Re: Using CMY Toner when printing Black & White
Ok. I have MN-CONT 90.40, so that should allow the black only mode. I have DEV-SP1 bit 0 set to 1. Mine was set to (0000 1110) now it is (0000 1111). Is there any way to tell that it is actually in black only mode.Comment

Re: Using CMY Toner when printing Black & White
Make some Black only copies on glass , then
Check your counters
This only works if u follow the rules
Bit adjust will stay - unless u change it back**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment

Re: Using CMY Toner when printing Black & White
101 Total1 increments with each print
108 Total(Black1) increments with each print
Is 101 the color counter or is it something else?Comment

Re: Using CMY Toner when printing Black & White
101 is your Total Counter it can not be changed
Other counters are set up according to billing contracts
if you have s service contract, speak to your rep or dont loose sleep over it**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment

Re: Using CMY Toner when printing Black & White
Alright! Starting the new day. From previous work I should have a black only mode. I got the counters rearranged showing color & black prints seperate. When I make a black copy from the glass it show 1 click for the black and no clicks for the color. Everything seems great. I then made some black only from the glass again with the covers open. All 4 drums were still running. I thought the CMY drum would not run in black only mode, or I am missing something.Comment

ACR (Auto Carrier Refresh) control=u can't stop this from happening
This is a control to supply developer to the developing assembly and also discharge developer to keep optimal developer amount in the developing assembly.

Re: Using CMY Toner when printing Black & White
Well again I appreciate all the help. I am reading everything I can get my hands on.
The fact still remains I am running a B&W job and still watching my CMY level go down. This should be a no brainer, not sure what is making this so difficult.
This printer should be able to run B&W even when CMY is depleted. When CMY run out it forces me to replace, even though I am running a B&W job.
I did find a BK-MODE in Level 1> COPIER>OPTION>BODY not sure if this would help or not. I can't find it in the service manual.Comment

Re: Using CMY Toner when printing Black & White
I finally got it working. Under Service Level 1 COPIER> OPTION> BODY> BK-MODE changed from 0 to 1. The CMY developers do not run on Black & White jobs now. Works perfectly from the glass or from the Fiery RIP. I really thank you for all the help.
Thanks

Re: Using CMY Toner when printing Black & White
The Canon Factory Default value for that BK-MODE is always "1"
some one had to change it to "0"
BK-MODE= Setting of shift condition to single black color mode.
Details= To set the conditions to shift to single black color mode.
Adj/set/operate method-- Enter the setting value, and then press OK key.
Display/adj/set range = 0 to 10
0: Not shifted
1: At continuous output of 100 pages in Bk
2: At continuous output of 200 pages in Bk
3: When job color mode is Black
4: Job color mode is Color, and at continuous output of 100 pages in Bk
5: Job color mode is Color, and at continuous output of 200 pages in Bk
6 to 10: Not used
Default value 1
