Take the PATH train from downtown to Hoboken. It's right across the river.

I thought they had resumed all the PATH since 911. I guess not. I used to be able to go from WTC to Hoboken direct but it's been years

There is a modified WTC/EPS Station entrance during construction.

The WTC station is currently undergoing a major reconstruction project and will become the World Trade Center Transportation Hub after its completion, scheduled on December 17, 2015

We got the PATH train yesterday, & visited Carlo's bakery (my wife is a fan)
Got a wedding in Central park later!
