[Error Code] E000805-002 on C3220...Bad fan?

I am working on a C3220 with this error code (intermittent). I am pretty sure that this is the Fixing Exhaust heat fan (FM2).

I have run the operational check <PART-CHK>, FAN, FM2 from the service menu and it always says "OK". The fan seems to operate at both high and low speed. [I did notice some bearing noise during one test.] So, I guess I will be replacing the fan unless there is something else to try first.

My real question is where to obtain the part (FH6-1980-020, or Nidec D09A 24PS2). The only places that I found the direct replacement part online ships from overseas. Is this part easily substituted with any appropriately sized and cabled 24V PC fan?

Should I consider a used part from an old machine (or is that just asking for a repeat performance)?

    Thanks in advance
    Jim

It is very rare for a fan to fail, so using a used one i'm sure will be fine.

OK, I replaced the fan (with a used fan), and get the same error more regularly.
Both the original and the replacement fans spin freely, and passed the PART-CHK.

It seems more common when trying to print from the network vs. just making a copy...Is there something different between these modes that would generate the error?

Other threads about fans say to check the connector, replace the fan, replace the DC controller PCB.
Having removed/replaced the fan several times, the connector looks good and the fans function. Am I now at the point of replacing the PCB?
Or can the PCB have a connection issue, or a repairable circuit, or is the failure threshold an adjustable parameter?

      Thanks,
      Jim

There are many fans on this model, are you sure you replaced the correct one, ie the one the error is referring to? The manual isnt always clear when identifying fans.

Did you use I/O > DC-CON > P004 to check all fans? Because of E805-002 is not certainly for Fixing Exhaust heat fan

Good test if you think you found the culprit is to disconnect and test again. If disconnected it should give the error for sure....

              Thanks for the suggestions!

I have a replacement DC Controller PCB arriving today. But, given these suggestions and the question of which fan is really the culprit, I will do some more testing...
I suspect that I will need to wait for the error to occur again to run I/O > DC-CON > P004 to see the status. Is that correct?

I can certainly disconnect the fan I think it is to see if I get the same error.
