C3480i sorry the pic is upside down. so far i have changed each drum changed the itb and removed the entire image assembly to get a the laser units to clean them by hand. i started with only a few fading lines going across that cleaning the lasers fixed. after re-installing the image assembly unit i now have copies and prints that look like this. i had the copies on the first day almost perfect came back the second day and ruined the progress i made. ive pulled the drums out three times to clean the laser and the third time i got the terrible prints.

Re: c3480i leaving lines
It looks like the typical lines you get from the drums, i've seen it many times even with brand new drum units!
Post a PG 10 test print, that will show you what unit it causing the fault, but looking at your pic i'd say CyanLet us eat, drink, and be merry, because tomorrow we may die!

Re: c3480i leaving lines
if I was end user I'd be smart enough to call a tech to come in here and fix it. I can assure you I've been working on these stupid boxes for ever. I do mostly black and white machines and I'm just new to Canon now.Comment

Re: c3480i leaving lines
You can do test prints in service mode.
To enter service mode pres additional functins (*) then 28 together then additions functions again. Once in press copier, test, change PG to 10 & press start.Let us eat, drink, and be merry, because tomorrow we may die!

Re: c3480i leaving lines
thank you for that. i can see how i look like a end user. i though techs were the only people dumb enough to repeatedly smash their heads for endless hours to just get more and more pissed off. it was the cyan and magenta drum units making the issue. i took used ones we had in the shop that i knew were good. they were good enough for backups in case of a emergency. swapped both and got ok copies but the lines were gone. does not make sense to me i tried other drum units from their other machine in the office.Comment

Re: c3480i leaving lines
All that causes the white lines is an obstruction in the dev unit part of the drum, usually a hard bit of developer. Easy to fix, take the drum out of the unit, you will then see the line on the dev roller, simply run a folded corner of paper to push it out, I have a tool to ajust the docotor blade a fraction higher this sorts that issue.Let us eat, drink, and be merry, because tomorrow we may die!

Re: c3480i leaving lines
Hey! This can be caused by a dirty ITB unit too. see the recent thread about light copies. Copier tech is right on though. Those lines can come and go....sometimes.Comment
