    IR 2220 New Hard drive

I am having a tough time installing a new hard drive on my IR 2220n copier. I have always had no problems installing generic hard drives on the 330's and 2200's. But this machine does not al me to format it saying Toshiba not accepted.

    What is the best solution?

Would the easiest solution be to buy one from NWRS for $150 and would that be ready out of the box?

    Thanks,

PLease order the Correct hard drive first, as the system software was design for certain hard drives, as far as I know, I have tried using other drives before and of different brands but had problems, until I ordered the specified drive as outlines by Canon.

What happen why you had to replace the hard drive?

      E-602-003.

I took the chance and reloaded software, hard failure at start up. Tried to clear code and cannot access service mode.

Installed new hard drive and installed software w/o formatting and got the pink screen. Got the format software for the 2220n and it goes to pink screen at the start of the format process and says the Toshiba drive is un acceptable.

As a matter of fact when I try to format it, it shows no partions in the drop down box like /bootdev.

You can get it from NWRS, but none of them come with software already loaded, you still need to fomat the hard drive and load system software

If you are not using a Canon specified drive you need to edit the HDformat .ift file to include the model HD you are putting in the machine. The ift file can be found under the model machine in the C:\servtool folder.

Bottom line was that I purchased a Hard Drive specifically marketed as a replacement for the 2220/2270.... ect.

I did have the software to format the drive and install ALL-HD. as a batch download.

I purchased the drive at Memory Experts for just under $150.

            Problem solved.

just a note: dont use all hd format, cant trust it. always format manually then batch download. Always check rewrite over in the little check box lower left in sst 3.5. There is a new sst now. version 4.03. another note nwrs will install the system software on your hdd if you ask them to for an extra charge. At least they used to.

I don't mean to sound ignorant but just how do you format the drive and install the necessary software? I'm guessing it can be done from an independant PC (like a laptop that has the same IDE standard --of which I have two on the shelf). Also, where can I get the installation software? I can't seem to find it on the Canon.com website for this copier. Although there are meny downloads for this model available, the operation software doesn't seem to be there. Do I need to have Canon mail me some additional CD's? Is it possible to reinstall the operating software on a new hard drive directly on the machine via either the parallel port or ethernet?

                Thanks in advance everyone!

                  IR 2220 hard drive

The system software you refer to is "firmware". That firmware is not distributed to the public. It would take a Canon Technician to re-install your firmware with a Service Support Tool. (SST).
