    HDD wipped in Canon

    Hello everyone.

I bought used canon ir 3100cn but HDD was wipped and it displays error E602-0003. I was told that machine was working and has page count 118000. It came very dusty.

Have all canons copiers got the same problem after HDD is wipped? I can buy
IRC2380I, IR3170CI, canir3180ci, IR3225N with HDD wipped. Which models will start normally after HDD wipped?

The machine detects a faulty read sector while it reads data from BOOTDEV

      A/
      1) Turn off the main power, and press the 1 and 9 keys to turn it back on (so that the machine will automatically startits recovery program*, turning the control panel to go fully black).
      2) When done (i.e., when the screen has turned fully white), turn off and then on the main power.

If A/ not solved, perform B/:
      B/
      1) Start up the machine in safe mode (i.e., turn on the main power while holding down the 2 and 8 keys).
      2) Format the HDD (ALL) and download the system software (SYSTEM, LANG, RUI) using the SST.
      3) When done, turn off and then on the main power.

I start with step A. Unfortunately it takes long time. After 4 hours I have progress about 20%. I am going to leave this machine on and check it tomorrow.
How long does it usually take to finish this procedure?

not that long, I think you have bought a faulty machine, sounds like the HDD is actually gone.

I'd seek a full refund on faulty produce and buy a new machine instead of trying to revive relics that are better off left dead.

none of the canon devices will work when the HDD has been formatted and the firmware has not been rewritten to the HDD.

For security reasons many dealers etc will remove the HDD from all copiers before selling them on, I would remove the rear cover & check to see it has been removed first.

All Canons will need a HDD fitted to function as all the software is installed on the hard drive.
