IR C3380i won't acknowledge black drum. I heard that a software update is indicated. Does anyone know where I can download the Firmware?

First check_
If he problem could be related to a broken, loose, or missing drive drum coupling.
Remove Drums to inspect inside cavity.
Note:
Do not replace drum units with new ones unnecessarily, in order to check function operations during service, etc. The device blows the drum fuse as soon as it detects a new drum unit and resets the drum life counter to 0. Even if the old drum is replaced immediately, the drum life counter will increment as a new drum unit.
In Service Mode COPIER>FUNCTION>INSTALL >AINR-OFF invalidates drum initialization that is performed when a new drum unit is installed. Also, the fuse is not blown, as it would usually be after drum initialization is complete.
This mode would be used to replace a drum unit temporarily in order to check image quality, for example trying to trace the cause of the problem.
0: Initialization carried out for new unit. Fuse blown (Default)
1.: No initialization for new unit. Fuse not blown.
Further, this service mode should be set to [1] only when necessary for service. After the service is complete the setting must always be returned to [0].

In this case the drum drive coupling was dislodged from the black drum drive shaft. This prevented the drum from rotating and caused the machine to display that the drum was not installed.

Replacing the black drum has no effect.

In several cases replacing the ITB assembly corrected the message.
The part number for the ITB assembly is FM2-5522-030**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**

a. Low temperature, low humidity environment (approx. less than 15 deg C/50%)
b. The value of Life of the ITB unit is over 50%

1. Detect whether the current of the primary transfer roller [3] of the
ITB unit [2] is not lower than the lower
limit and implement the detection of drum rotation.
Detection timing: 1. When turning on the power of the
machine/2. When starting
up from Sleep mode/3. When
opening/closing the front door of the machine
2. Detect whether the charging cu
rrent of the drum cartridge [1] is not lower than the lower limit.
<Causes>
In the case that the resistance of the in

Goofy way to detect drum on these machines...measures primary charging AC bias. Before newer firmware came out you had to replace itb assembly. Firmware will fix it..if not clean itb contacts or replace it. Like I said, goofy designComment

hi,
had this a few times, can be a pain. Ive got past it by cleaning the laser dust proof glass, either with the wand or manually, mostly to over come this, flash the machine with the latest firmware and it will recognise the drum. Most of our machines of this type are all upgraded now and very rarely see it.Comment
