Canon irC2880 is 'grainy' when scanning?

    Hi Everyone,

At my work we have a Canon irC2880 MFP which we use for copying / faxing / scanning, etc.

At the moment when scanning it produces a very grainy image, as can be seen below -

If anybody can suggest what might be causing this, and further how to go about fixing it, can you please share?

    Kind Regards,

    Davo

    Hi,
if the sample is a printed it could be the humidity content on paper ..... you can try to put new paper from the paper box

    All the best

If this is just scanning (not printing) try scanning to PDF not tiff & change the scan setting to colour & 600dpi.

The plot thickens...colour scans work a charm!

        Hello copier tech,

The plot thickens here...whenever I scan something in colour it comes out crystal clear.

I did note that the black & white scan defaulted to .tiff format, whereas the colour format defaulted to PDF.

Is there some way of setting independent (e.g.: one for B & W, one for colour) scan settings (file format, resolution, etc).

Any additional assistance will be greatly appreciated. I am yet to test with printing of B & W vs. Colour, but will report back once I do.

        Kind Regards,

        Davo

You will always get a better quality scan using PDF not TIFF, & always scan in colour, it doesn't cost anymore & as you can see the scan quality is better.

You can change the default settings here, Additional functions<Communications settings<Transmit settings<Edit standard send settings

This is from memory so might not be 100% accurate.
