Re: iRC2880 system software. please!!
Brilliant
MANY thanks to you all.
Have finally got it going. New RAM, and bingo...
Now have to go through and sort out some other small issues, "clicking in the paper path somewhere", but all good
Extremely appreciated

Re: iRC2880 system software. please!!
If you can format the drive in Windows & it passes all tests etc then I would say the drive is ok. I have in the past even installed Windows on the drive & booted up in a spare pc just to be sure!
As teckat said ram could also be the issue but i've had quite a few on the Lan-bar cards fail over the yearsLeave a comment:

Re: iRC2880 system software. please!!
For devices with SATA HDD (new type), HD FORMAT version "0012" and later should be used.
For devices with PATA HDD (old type), HD FORMAT version "0012" and earlier can be used.
Therefore, HDD can be formatted without problems with System v93.xx or earlier.
Latest is v95.01.01,
There is a HD Format v00.18 released in year 2012, that was not included in v95.01.01.
It supports later HDD's.
Note:
When u format HDD in SST, and it goes through, that means it's recognize by the file, & let's u load Firmware without error, then u turn on printer, & it pops a e602, I would look at replacing the memory, Had a handful of iRC3200 printers that would throw e602 after HDD replacement, drove me crazy, until Tech friend in Canon Dallas told me about memory issue, sometimes it was one stick, or both.
I always carried xtra memory .Leave a comment:

Re: iRC2880 system software. please!!
This has been my problem.
Have tried to aquire the drive in the unit, a Hitachi deskstar HDS721680PLAT80, the parts manual states a HDS728080PLAT20. Nothing, all overseas..
Teckac mentioned a WD800JB-22JJC0, again overseas. I had a WD800JB-2200C0, no go.
Then decided to go SATA, expecting that to be my quickest option (however expensive), only to be stuffed again.. Am now considering the WD from USA..
Have also tried every windows disk check on the drive, all with no errors, put it in the machine, format, install firmware, reboot, software installs from machine to drive, reboot- E601-002.
May end up being a bad card as you mentioned. Or there is something else im not seeing.
Thanks to everybody, will keep pushing forward..

Re: iRC2880 system software. please!!
The best & quickest way is to fit a replcement of the same HDD model, the SATA upgrade in my opinion is simply not worth it. Personally I simply buy from eBay, the HDD model number is written on it, a quick search you'll find loads for sale cheap as chips!
Also you can check your old drive by fitting it to a usb caddy, see if you can format it in windows, ran scan disk etc. if the drive is good you may have other issues, i've seen the network card (LAN-BAR PCB - FM2-9611-000) cause many E602 etc issues
Here's the firmware for when you get your drive.

Re: iRC2880 system software. please!!
Thats the one you sent me, and what made me decide to go SATA.
But the SATA kit is a 4 week wait
Will patiently wait and then see what other issues this machine might have after I can get it to boot..Leave a comment:

Re: iRC2880 system software. please!!
aaaaaaarrrrrgggghhhh
Canon are really starting to give me the shits here in AUS..
With many thanks to Tekcat, and the fact the IDE drives that will actually work, are nearly impossible to get locally, I decided to go SATA.
I found 3 drives here, none of them will format, and again thanks to canon encrypting the software am stuffed.
I ordered a drive, and a non ecryption SATA set. Have drive, now being told 4 week wait for the SATA set.
Thank christ this is all for my own machine, The winging from the customer having to wait for another month would put me over the edge..
Seriously dont know how you guys do this sometimes.
Anyway end of winge

Re: iRC2880 system software. please!!
Hi Guys
Sorry, but yet another software request.
Have recently acquired a iRC2880 copier. Am in need of a HDD reboot (error 602-002), most likely was not shut down properly, or a new HDD required.
I already have manuals and SST, but am in need of the system software. Can anyone here help? (Canon is so helpful with this stuff)
Then I can get the unit to boot, and find out what other issues I might be in for.
Am happy to purchase if necessary
Thanks
First_Try a defrag
Turn off the machine and hold down the 1 and 9 digits on the Control Panel while turning the machine back on. Once the machine is on it will immediately go into the defrag mode for the Hard Drive. The defrag process will take at least 20 minutes, once completed turn the machine off and back on.
If it displays. "NG", u will need Firmware to Format the old HDD, if error pops, u will need a New HDD
, that HDD also needs to be formatted inside printer before loading firmware.Leave a comment:
