    Canon IR ADV 6065

A customer with several of our machines has asked that we take care of their Canon IR ADV 6065. Apparently there was a serious falling out with the prior dealer servicing the machine. My experience with Canon is minimal and I'm anxious to learn. The machine has the dual tray E1 staple and hole punch external finishers. On the display there is a message that states the finisher is unavailable. The E1 trays do not respond i.e. move up and down to adjust as prints are produced. The trays remain in a stationary position. When power is cycled on the machine the trays do not respond and remain stationary.

I was able to source the manual and hope to trouble the finisher. However, I cannot find how to enter the service mode. Any help would definitely be appreciated.

Limited Functions Mode for the imageRUNNER Advance Series is found in a special location as opposed to all other imageRUNNER Models.

Please execute the following keystrokes to find Limited Functions Mode.

Settings / Registration > Management Settings > Device Management > Limited Functions Mode-------set to 'OFF'

You have to log in with admin user name and password, in order to access management settings.

Check service mode (*28* ) for error codes related to finisher E5xx, after turning Limited Functions off

To enter service mode enter *(2 and 8 together)*
            * is also called the Additional Functions key
There are 2 reasons why the sorter may not be responding. The most common is customers place an object like a bin under the trays as they are moving. Because it does not see them return to home position it places the Sorter in "Limited Functions" mode. This mode can can be turned off on the screen and then power off/on the MFD to reset.
Or the plug for the sorter is connected to the wrong plug in the back of the MFD. Look in the topright corner of the rear of the MFD for the correct location to plug the cable into.

It can get more detailed, but this will be enough to get you started.
